i can totally relate to this song... i can totally relate to brainvoid it scares me that its so true i also love the way that the drum beat is almost muffled or something right at the end it just reminds me of the way that even after hearing the truth so raw and blatent you sort of accept it for a while but you know in the end you have to ignore it because thats just the way it is...reflects the last line "how long must i wait to get a drink in this place" like the truth must be ignored and you just have to go back to "life" i dna if anyone understands that...its slightly incoherent... |

I HATED this song when i first heard it but thats usually a sign that its a really good song... i dna if anyone has said this but i think it might be not that this girl has fucked him over and hes had enough i think that it might be that its before a real relationship and shes lead him on and now hes so in love with her hes ready to put himself in that position and although he says the fires "turning blue" it doesnt mean that he doesnt love her its just a different kind of love like a love that knows its unrequited but goes on loving anyway and he doesnt want or need her to apologize cos its too late cos he already loves her too much to let go he says "i need you like a heart needs a beat its nothing new..." and i think he means that its not new anymore and even though shes already cut me down it doesnt change anything the way he repeats that last couplet again sounds really mournful and tired almost as if hes waiting to be cut down again. i think its beautifully sad the way that i know a guy just like the guy in my interpretation and the way he just lets her crush him over and over again is really heart-breaking. the imagary of rope and like a hot air balloon rising and the thought of not knowing what to do like whether to let go now and hope you dont fall to bad or try and hold on till it burns out is horrific and loving someone enough trusting them to choose for you and then getting screwed like that... shit ive gone on for ages |

firstly the almost hesitant sounding music at the beginning reflects the uncertain mood of the song... then the baseline comes in and i think that this contradicts the beginning as it sort of harsh and confident the music alone shows that basically the song is all about denial i think "where are all the ladies at this party i'll just fuck off on my own" its said in a really nonchalant way but "dnt get me wrong i know no pity" makes you think that the protagonist does actually care so he goes home on his own i basically think this song is about the boredom of youth you wanna go out meet someone get off with them but nothing happens and you go home lonely but he pretends to his friends like he doesnt care and they can just go home to his house and cotch there but really he does care |
