| Grizzly Bear – Fine for Now Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
There was time, it took time (impossible) There is time, so much time There is time, so much time All the kids on the waterfront shyly raise their hands Done asking for your permission, please understand If we’re all faltering, how’d I help with that? If it’s all or nothing, then let me go. If we’re all faltering, why’d I help with that? If it’s all or nothing then let me go. There was time, it took time (impossible) There is time, so much time There is time, so much time All the kids on the waterfront shyly raise their hands Done asking for your permission, please understand If we’re all faltering, how’d I help with that? If it’s all or nothing then let me go If it’s all or nothing then let me go |

| It's "that light" not "they light". | |
| Grizzly Bear – Hold Still Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Here we go again We'll carry on My only friends I'll take one chance Without compromise There isn't anything left, to try Here we go again We'll carry But then again We couldn't take this on The story goes unformed As if we never were there at all |

| Grizzly Bear – About Face Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Without a trace Makes me wonder A staged race Has no thunder This is the case Of our plunder It's a fire for what? Time for faith we thought About face Makes me wonder And in this case There is no thunder A bit of grace In our plunder It's a fire for what? Time for faith we thought It's a fire for what? Time for faith we thought It's a fire for what? Time for faith we thought Lyrics printed on the vinyl sleeves. So they are right. |

| Wilco – You and I Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Somehow I think this song is about getting married. | |
| Coldplay – Lost! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I definitely feel like this is Chris addressing an ex on the subject of posturing (anyone who's had a messy breakup knows there's that "If she doesn't make a move to reconcile first then I'll be losing"-esque bullshit) and basically saying that she's going to be lost at some point too. It's definitely a kiss-off of a song, whether the addressed be a former lover, former friend, or a family member. |

| "All the evidence of your vacant life" | |
| Elbow – The Bones Of You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is definitely the tale of a businessman who's tried to pretty much pry himself from the memory of a lost love. I love this song, and I love this album. "but I love bones of you that I will never escape." |

| The Shins – A Call To Apathy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The hell? No one's commented on this? I think it's basically from the viewpoint of a fiancee who's always had commitment issues, and is now telling his lover to leave him... Pretty straightforward. I love the lyric: "I find a fatal flaw In the logic of love And go out of my head" Because it's just the base frustration of the human condition in regards to being loved and being in love, that there's a serious problem with it... |

| Dntel – Natural Resources Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think that the firefight and the warring imagery are a metaphor for something greater, more human, perhaps given how the shots originate from typewriter keys that it's a war of the written word between two or more individuals, and though each attempts to out-reason and out-argue the other, there is more to being an "us" than to being "others" to one another (thus the natural resources). | |
| Dntel – Breakfast in Bed Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Hah hah... That's hilarious, man. You diss Conor on the basis that he's a pansie when Jimmy has gone and done some of the most emotionally "wussy" yet beautiful songs of the last decade in collaborations with other "pansie" artists like Jenny Lewis and Ben Gibbard, yeah that's a great fuckin' criteria to base your opinion on... Either way, I love this song because, I feel at least, it's as though the singer is singing about, pretty much, a one night stand or a one weekend stand and how the singer realizes that no one back home (New York) can ever learn about what happened here. That and the last stanza is brutal especially given how the singer wishes he could be the right man for this person but he knows, in his heart, he never will be. |

| Interpol – Rest My Chemistry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'm irritated that Rolling Stone fucking knocked THIS song of ALL the songs on the album (and fucking sucked "No I In Threesome"'s metaphoric balls) and then gave them a *** instead of a ***1/2 or ****... Whatever... Anyway, I agree with the above post about it being a somewhat altruistic song from the POV of a drug addict finally finding the motivation to kick his habit in the form of a beautiful young girl. |

| Portishead – All Mine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| If you like Portishead I suggest checking out Massive Attack, Morcheeba and Hooverphonic... | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Doomsday Clock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it ought to say "Kafka" instead of "Khafka" as Billy is referencing the author Franz Kafka, who wrote Metamorphosis, and the like... There are some really really vague references to the end of the world, and I'm not sure who is the "they" and the "jackals" that Billy's talking about, However, I love the chorus and identify with it wholly seeing as, I feel, it's Billy expressing how he can't go on living life by himself... |
