ok so guttersharkk I think ur opinion is a really good one, that's good insight on the song, I felt it more than the christian mythology one (not bashing other opinions, maybe I don't feel it bc I'm not much into the word of god) you can totally get the impression of regret and guilt. and as for sirfoil, that is a very creative way to take those lyrics :D and I was attracted to this song bc of the reference to one of the greatest movies of all time, rikki tikki tavi, in the title (nagaina = mama cobra) |

I honestly love this song, my xbf and I totally relate being young and dumb lol (its kinda ironic that this spill canvas's "so much" was our song and then our break up song was by them too...haha life is funny) we take it as the people being caught up way too fast in their relationship ("we were both selfish") and then him making majority of the mistakes ("but I think I was more..." "I just hurt you and I never looked back" "my empty promises" "jealousy running through my bones" etc) but them both singing in the chorus showing they both understand things went too fast and they knew it would end, yet they both learned a lot. at the end he talks about how a new girl makes his old love (and the whole relationship itself) look bad. he may mean it or may say it to try and hurt his x. he also may think he means it, or is just telling himself its true, bc his train of thought is focused on all the bad things that went on in the end of their relationship. it feels good to give my opinion on a song that means a lot to me :D |
