First of all, this is one of the worst sounding songs I have ever heard. The melody is just HORRIBLE and sounds like something I would have listened to in kindergarten, seriously. Secondly, how immature can you be? To seriously have to write a song directed towards your ex-husband and have the main line be "nanananananana". Thats some more kindergarten shit right there. |

I know its great to think that every Thrice song has a biblical meaning, but this is simply untrue. This song is quite frankly speaking about the United States and the (underground) truth movement that is starting to catch on. Thrice has sung about isuues such as these in the past. ie; The artist in the ambulances 'blood clots and black holes'; "to be at peace would be a sin and surely un-american" People are waking up and realizing what has really been going on with this nation behind closed doors. Some of the imagery and other things I havent quite pinpointed yet but I get a feel for what he is trying to say with this song. "There is truth beneath the floorboards; there is hope in brick and stone. But they tell me just to shut my mouth;" - People are demanding truth to things such as 9/11- Iraq war, our government, etc. The only problem is, anyone who raises these questions is now labeled "unpatriotic/ traitors" so we are forced to keep silent. "because I don't think that any one of them believes that there will be a reckoning." - The men in power believe we will just continue to put up with their bullshit and continue on being sheep. "But I will see this city burn." -The "city" in this song represents our system of government, speaks for itself. "There are still good shepherds scattered, but they're far between and few" -Yes, not ALL politicians are corrupt. "And the sheep's skin that the wolves all wear is so thin I see right through" -'Wolves' being the politicians, constantly trying to look good and put on a front when they are horribly corrupt. "I love this city, but I've set and numbered its days. I love this city, enough that I'll set it ABLAZE." -He loves his country but the MEN ruling it have turned it into something so horrible that the only real reconciliation left is "burning" it down and starting over. |
