| The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Too Tough Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think this is about a girl who knows this guy is no good for her (for whatever reason) but she's still very attracted to him (for whatever reason) and this is her finally letting go. Or something. | |

| Very nice album closer. | |
| Superdrag – What If You Don't Fly Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Sounds like she condemned him for some sin or vice of his and dumped him and he's saying get off your high horse and don't be so anal. Listen to your body/mind/heart, not the bible/what your taught/society. | |
| Superdrag – Garmonbozia Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The first part sounds like he's getting laid where people can overhear, like the tour bus or something, but it's emotion-less sex. The second verse seems like he's getting tired of the empty love and considering suicide unless he unites/re-unites with the person he's singing to. It's hard to say if this is a real person or just an idea. | |
| Casiotone for the Painfully Alone – I Love Creedence Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I'm not sure why no one has mentioned this yet, but it's definitely from the perspective of a gay male. This is why they can "laugh like queens" and they are just "best friends". It's not a coincidence he uses Queen, it's a not so obvious hint. And yes, it's a love song, but platonic love. This is also why there are no mention of relationship besides L's. He was content without a lover as long as he had his bff and now she left him for another man so it felt like a divorce. Great song. The end. | |

| I disagree. Jason uses water as a cleansing and admits his drug usage is a sin. He uses drugs not to heal, but to get by(in his music at least). I think the heat or "hot" in this song is a reference to hell and him admitting his sins, "ain't been with you but its you I'm needing" = J saying to God "I've not been a good boy, but I want to change." The water is purity; he's asking God to forgive him and wash his sins away. | |
| Radiohead – Where I End and You Begin. (The Sky Is Falling In.) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Interesting take. Someone just said Optimistic had the same line about dinosaurs ruling the Earth. Isn't that the same song with "the big fish eat the little ones, the big fish eat the little ones, not my problem give me some" ? So perhaps he doesn't consider himself as apart from the problem. He knows he is a big fish and probably unconsciously "eats" little fish pretty regularly. But if he didn't, he'd soon be a little fish getting eaten so wtf can ya do. Or maybe not, who knows. | |

| I agree with both of the last 2 posts. He is being left behind for power. Perhaps his best friend is going off to college while he stays home. Maybe his girlfriend is taking a job in another city. It could mean a bunch of things. I wish they still made songs like this. | |

It's either about breaking up with an ex and then meeting her later on with his wife or the death of Kamen. Yes, SOME lines work with a friend dying or a new born but the song is more than a couple lines long. How can he argue with his new born baby in the basement? Think people. If it was a friend dying, why would it be too late for beginnings? He could make new friends anytime. Either the love of his life (to that point) leaves him or his therapist passed on. He wants to mope and mourn but life doesn't care and isn't convenient and "it keeps coming." He has deadlines and bills to worry about that don't care about his loss. Also, he didn't say that the person was breathing on the phone, he could have just noticed Kamen's poor breathing at a regular meeting and noticed how bad it was getting. |

| I agree, definitely about drugs. Then he talks about how the general public looks down on such behavior. "They'd take me I can tell" They = Rehab. "Four fingers and a toenail" = Cost of rehab. But he doesn't care and continues with his ways... wonderful tune. | |

| To some it might mean that, but how exactly would his wife meet a dead person? | |

Dr. George Kamen - noted psychiatrist who invented group therapy. Bulgarian born, moved to the United States in 1980 to avoid persecution. I don't see it being about him. I think this is clearly about a past love. "I wish that we could talk about it, But there, that's the problem. With someone new I couldn't start it, Too late, for beginnings." - Their relationship has communication issues. He doesn't want to leave her, it's "too late for beginnings" and wants to just work it out with her. He knows they have had their differences, so he has seen it coming when she does call him early in the morning to break up with him. I think he is expressing how ok he is with the ending when he makes the comments about the weather and the coffee "because what's the difference". He knows they have been on life support for quite some time and isn't shocked or too upset, it's an amicable breakup. Now he has to get on with his life "There's all the work that needs to be done". This is the love of his life but sometimes love isn't enough. He just had this huge earthquake in his private life but life "keeps coming til the day it stops" and he must carry on. He later meets another girl and gets married and has told his wife of his previous love and talked her up quite a bit and that is why the wife sees her as someone more than human. Simple a myth to her. The "ring of silence" is the awkwardness when he introduces his wife to the love of his life. What do you say in that situation? |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Turn Into Lyrics | 18 years ago |

To me this song is about Karen letting someone go that is very close to her. "I know what I know I know on car ride down I hear it my head real low" She has done something wrong(cheated on him) or has been lying to him and knows she isn't good for him. She is going to see him to break it off and can't stop thinking about it. "Turn into the only thing I ever, Turn into hope I do, Turn into you" - She still loves him and wishes she could be as loyal and perfect as him. She doesn't want to give him up but knows it is best for both of them. "Well I know that girl you found, Keep that kind of window closed" She's trying to explain to him that she isn't the perfect girl he sees her as (love can make you see what you want to sometimes). "Can't say why I kept this from you, My those quiet eyes become ya" - She should have told him right away and he is kind of sitting their not wanting to believe what she is telling him. "Leave it where it can't remind us, Turn this all around behind us" - She is still fighting to let him go, she wishes she could change/forget the past. "Oh... Well I know, How far I am to keep you out, I'd like to tell you all about it" - She has to stay away from him for his own good or she will hurt him more, but again, is fighting against what she knows is best for him. "I know this last time round, I'll hear it in my head real low" - This is the end for them, but she will always remember him. "Turn into the only thing that ever known, Only thing that ever knows..." - More regret over what she has done. |
