The Weepies – Little Bird Lyrics 16 years ago
Sort of like summerpenguin said, I think this is about feeling alienated by those you love because of something you did (people on the streets seem to disapprove). The whole thing about buildings and people probably means like...you never can tell who the people you know really are underneath it all (i.e. she never thought they'd "disown" her or w/e). As the song goes on, it describes how she goes from being pretty down about it to realizing all the things she can do and be now that she's alone ("open your window and look upon all the kinds of alive you can be). Lovee this song. (:

Jinxed – Sunshine Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song doesn't necessarily have to be about a relationship. I think the person she's singing to is really sick or something, and she's trying to encourage them by saying don't worry about it, you'll be fine, and you've already done so much with your life. But yeah, it's really sweet. (:

Ingrid Michaelson – Giving Up Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is kind of like, a couple is either engaged or just taking their relationship to a more serious level, and she's like asking him all these what-ifs because she cares about him a lot and wants to make sure that's what he wants to do. Kinda like, well I'm giving everything up for you because I love you, but are you sure I make you happy enough to be able to do the same? Yeah.

Vanessa Carlton – She Floats Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's "God knows secrets, so I'm told" instead of "got no secrets though I'm told." I might be wrong? But that's what I hear.

Train – Free Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about a guy and a girl who are both pretty promiscuous, and they meet up and fool around and then the guy realizes he loves her and starts to change his ways. However, she doesn't. People call him "free" because of his reputation but he just feels like a fool for being what he is and having to miss out on love.

Ingrid Michaelson – Masochist Lyrics 18 years ago
i sort of think that this song is about being unable to love somebody back. it's like, this guy is really into her and she just can't get herself to see it. she doesn't understand because she hasn't been in love, so she can't return what he tells her (i.e. my skin feels like no one else's...but i don't understand, isn't a hand just a hand?). also i think the "she" that ingrid talks about may be sort of like an...inner voice. or like her conscience or something, telling her that he's a masochist for falling for her.

Jack's Mannequin – Dark Blue Lyrics 18 years ago
“I have, I have you breathing down my neck, breathing down my neck/I don’t, don’t know what you could possibly expect under this condition”

I think it could be that he was in a relationship with someone who was very demanding, while he’s more of a laid-back person. He also seems depressed. Maybe she was getting upset about something insignificant, and he’s wondering how she could worry about something like that [whatever it is] while he, and their relationship, is in such a bad state. Or, conversely, she could be nagging him while he’s drunk. Either way makes sense.

“I’ll wait, I’ll wait for the ambulance to come, ambulance to come/Pick us up off the floor/What did you possibly expect under this condition?/So, slow down, this night’s a perfect shade of/Dark blue, dark blue/Have you ever been alone in a crowded room?/Well I’m here with you/I said the world could be burning and burning down”

The ambulance could symbolize something coming to save their relationship. He tells her to calm down, and tries to tell her what depression is like. He’s kind of saying “Well, I’m with you? Isn’t that good enough?” and compares it to the fact that she makes it sound like the world is burning.

The rest of the song is basically about the “flood” of his depression and how he’s trying to fight it, and [“we were boxing”] how their fighting isn’t helping. The verse about the town underwater is kind of like they’ve finally reached their all-time low. The last lines just kind of sum up the song and tell her that if she ever felt how he did, she would understand why he does the things he does.

That’s just my take on it.
