Everything about this is un-fucking-forgivable. I am not a scene elitist, but this is a crime against every kind of extreme music, or metal, or whatever the fuck most suburban kids listen to when we're pissed off. Worst fucking lyrics ever. Seriously. I thought this particular song was a fucking joke, cause of the lyrics... until I saw these cats live. Nah man. They're dead serious. They try to brand their bullshit as "party death-metal", and its not. Even if it was, that shit is no excuse for shouting "Hanging from a lamp post!" over and over, playing a clunky, staccato breakdown that was fresh about a fucking decade ago in NY, CA, FL, IL... Even Georgia used to have better bands than this. Attila is the worst local band I've ever seen get any hype. I swear, sometimes it feels like one giant practical joke... like someone might tap me on the shoulder any minute now and be like "Nah just kidding, we all know Attila sucks." I live in Atlanta. I love thrash and grind and metal and (for a while, at least) the endless parade of "-core" spin-offs. I am deeply fucking ashamed that this band has so much promotion. The mere fact that this band has a career at all is a tragedy, for real. If you are a fan of Attila, I'm sorry. I can only recommend that you go back & listen to '3750' & 'The Dead Walk' by The Acacia Strain until you realize almost all the breakdown bands you like (i.e., Emmure) are just dumbed down rip-offs of that. If you already know TAS, then go get 'Prowler In The Yard' by Pig Destroyer, and listen to it until it makes sense. It may take a while, if you're an Attila fan. ...The only reason anyone's heard of Attila? "Real talk", like they say in the A - The lead singer, Fronzie, (a phony fucking pussy, but I'll get to that in a minute) I mean this guy is fucking shameless enough to "BREE"(btw, 2005 called and they want their fad back) these UTTERLY FUCKING MEANINGLESS, SHALLOW, MISOGYNISTIC BURP SOUNDS, to zombie crowds of insecure, MySpace-cloned sceneyboppers... ...Okay, this faggot was on MTV's "Made". He got a man-makeover, in their very special 46th episode: "Metal Rocker Made Male Model!". Do I really need to say anything else? Hey baby lets go out to the show! A phony, preening self-indulgent swine-boy wants to burp-scream "slut-butt slut what the fuck" at you, dontcha wanna pay ten bucks to go experience that? I know I do! You see, it was a strategic career move - Whoring himself to reality television gave him the opportunity to promote his band... AND SIMULTANEOUSLY, gave him the looks & confidence to prey on insecure 14-year-olds wearing too much eye makeup! I seriously didn't think any more nails would fit into the lid of Deathcore's coffin... and then here comes Attila, to water down the anger and desperation down even further. | They do whatever the fuck they feel like, if you listen to all three Portugal. albums you will realize - they are all different, but similar- in a sometimes unexplainable way. And yes this song is most most definitely about drugs, a great portion of this CD is drug-oriented and sounds very pleasing to the ear. | Anthony green definitely does or has done lots of drugs. Find his solo bootlegs and listen to "Stone-hearted man". He's not out of control, he just happens to get fucked up like a lot of intelligent people do. He makes beautiful music, so get past it. This song and a lot of the songs on Juturna are pretty obviously about cocaine use, it took me a few listens to realize it, but yeah... pretty obviously a cocaine thing. Kathleen Hanna is immature, and Le Tigre fans are ridiculous scene-driven poseur riotgrrls who take themselves FAR too seriously. I mean "Deceptacon" features such fascinating and thought-provoking lyrics as "Yr cool and I hardly wanna say "not" because I'm so bored that I'd be entertained even by a stupid fuckin linoleum floor, linoleum floor Yr lyrics are dumb like a linoleum floor I'll walk on it I'll walk all over you Walk on it, walk on it, walking one, two/ Who? Who? Who? Who?" - As a response to NOFX's song Linoleum, which is a great song about materialism. Listen to linoluem, read the lyrics, and tell me that's an intelligent and clever response. If I meet a Le Tigre fan, I reasonably expect to be annoyed as soon as they start talking. From my experience, MOST riot grrls are less concerned with the socio-political message and more concerned with dressing all funky and outrageous. I just don't understand why people are reluctant to coalesce behind such a strong message... Who took the Bomp from the Bompalompalomp? Who took the Ram from the Ramalamading dong? Truly powerful. |

Fat Mike is more insightful and clever than Kathleen, and its sort of amusing to hear someone who can't write lyrics criticize him. NOFX slays this band musically, politically, and lyrically, and as an added bonus they don't take themselves so fucking seriously. And no, the genders are not equal. And there's still a lot of ingrained bias towards women in modern society. However - feminism IS dead. Feminists killed it. For a movement that was supposed to be about equality, there's been a lot of preaching about "male-dominated society", and perhaps too much reactionary vitriol to the worst aspects of the male gender (such as aggression, dominance, and other testosterone-related afflictions). There's not a lot of feminists trying to "reach across the aisle", that is, cooperate with their male counterparts. Maybe if the righteous anger was dialed back a little, they'd realize not all males are trying to oppress them. We're not all alpha-male types looking for a subservient female pet. Some of us are actually progressive, JUST LIKE YOU! GASP! And ideology IS important in bands. If a band has a strong social or political opinion (ESPECIALLY a punk band) and you don't agree or care, you look like a fool. Be well-informed. What have you got to lose except your closed mind? |

First in response to "accidental messiah", I can't even begin to see how "Pears and peaches and Doctor Hippo, Met for a drink in those marshmallow clouds" is a reference to marriage counseling. Everything you said is wrong dude. Its disgusting how far you're trying to stretch the meaning of a good song, trying to make someone's artistic vision relate to your lame-ass life. Just because you have some kind of issue with divorce doesn't mean this song has anything to do with it. Now as far as this song, its just cool prose and it doesn't have a bunch of deep hidden meanings in it. These guys write pretty dense, strange lyrics a'la the Blood Brothers. Its just P.TM's scrambled artsy take on life... if you want dramatic lyrics about divorce, listen to some teeny-pop screamo band. They'll help you out. |
