I think it has to do with trying to decide whether to believe in God or not. Obviously, he is questioning whether to believe in what he has read and what people tell him, without being personally affected. Another piece of the song says 'The world has this ability To make a life of sin look sweet' which makes me think maybe he's wondering if he should give up living to try to not sin, even though (depending on how strict the religion) giving up some of the pleasures in life, for something that he doesn't know is guaranteed. The part about a loser can win whenever he wants to, all he has to do is bring you down kind of reminds me of the saying, 'You don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun your friend.' Anyone can win, even losers, all they have to do is make someone else a worse loser, not even better themselves. |

I know!! It's my favorite too.. I'm really surprised by the lack of comments.... I'm not exactly sure what it means, but here's my interpretation: It's about struggling in a relationship because the two people want to stay together, but they're not keeping promises.... "I've got you turning blue We can't put down our pride" & "Holding your breath just to pass the time Don't fill an empty space with the same conversation" Turning blue... goes with the saying, "don't hold your breath." Someone stood someone up, or maybe didn't call when they said they would, came late... "When did we think that this would be easy? We must have been out of our minds We were holding so tight It just slipped through our fingers But we won't let go" 'holding so tight' makes me think that they're so dependent on the person for making them feel good, cause they've been with them that long, but when the person can't be there for them for whatever reason 'it slipped through our fingers' the person gets really down and can't handle himself. But he still wants the relationship to last. 'we won't let go.' |

I haven't heard this song yet, but I can definitely relate to the lyrics.. it's all about going through a really bad time where people might even think you're crazy.. Love the lyrics. I wish the vocals were more understandable though. I like the music, but the vocals just sort of kill it for me... I like to be able to understand lyrics... maybe it's just me... Anyways, I think this song is about wanting to love someone because they've done so much for you.. but you just don't. "Hands are red with your blame megaphone screaming my name whimpers someone i should've loved" and "I've seen what you're doing to me destroying puppet strings to our souls" makes me think that the most. "Blackboard scratched with hate" makes me think more of hating that you don't love them.. you just want them to go away. All they do is add an annoying reminder of how you don't love them how they love you anymore. |
