Glassjaw – El Mark Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, I agree with In Honor of Pi Day. And I'm pretty sure that Daryl says "in a battle the size of my thumb" not "in a battle inside of my soul". I think this song has to do with him keeping straightedge for show, but it kind of does have to do with Chron's because he said he smoked weed to ease the pain of the disease in an interview.

Glassjaw – Harlem Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about Daryl and his girl out in the city "A night in the city... ", they hook up, and then Daryl finds out that she cheated on him and it pisses him off, "Your such a filthy liar/ But it attracts me".

"I thought about life without her", he wants her gone but, he'll go to hell for killing her, and she'll go to hell for being a liar, ""I thought about hell with her".

So he gets a gun and kills her, "Im shakin with a gun like this/ with the lead in my hand, oh, that’s shakin me, yea me/ Blood, blood, blood/ Love, love, love".

Then he feels horrible and wants to kill himself, "And I'll be known/ as the one who jumped off the bridge…".

Glassjaw – Cosmopolitan Bloodloss Lyrics 18 years ago
I love Buffalo '66, one of my favorite movies ever.

I think this song is about abortion, and just like fuzzyslippers said, the "impassioned ugly people" are the pro-life group because they are radicals and jump on that shit.

Glassjaw – Hurting and Shoving (She Should Have Let Me Sleep) Lyrics 18 years ago
Daryl calls because he guessed that his girl was going to cheat on him and it upsets him, "Hear the ring, it's me live from a pay phone in the rain. Things pan out exactly as i say they will. Cause I'll be less happy when I get back."

She tells him she loves him and wants him back all the time, "You say.. You say the waiting could crush your heart."

She even cuts herself to prove her love for him, "But I know,

How when you need me you bleed for me".

But then turns around and has sex again, "Though now I'm gone you fill my shoes with new fans."

He thinks that if she just got over him she would be happy, "She'd be free overjoyed in distance if she only let me sleep."

"Absence makes the heart grow still", means that when he was gone, she lost her feelings for him and cheated.

"Abuse the hunt", she is the hunter, hunting Daryl, and she is abusing their relationship and "confuse the kill" means she is confusing him by cutting herself for him but then screwing other guys.

"Make the dead sleep nights with a razor", he thinks she's a liar and is dead inside because she's not worth anything to him anymore.

This experience with this girl has made Daryl hate women, so much that he would even kill his own daughter, "(I'll hold) My child's head underwater... If it's a daughter, I'll say I did what I did because I had to..."

"Because I love you enough to let you give the pain that I want. And when you do, I just might fuck you enough to love you", although he is pissed off at her, he still loves her and thinks there may be a chance.

"Once upon my night stand, lied letters piled in columns. Postmarked 'Middle Island'", she has written him several times after they separated to try to get him back and apologize.

Glassjaw – Stuck Pig Lyrics 18 years ago
I think maybe this song is about a war, and the drugs that people take to get away from the reality and pain of their situation. Maybe Daryl has seen people go through personal wars "Me, me, me/Grief, grief, grief", then wanting to commit suicide "I pray it be covered in a rope" and has seen them abuse cocaine "My blow goes like a quickie in the snow" and various substances, and is sick and tired of it. It makes him want to kill all druggies and tell them to stand up for themselves and deal with their problems.

But it would be great to bang to! The feeling of the song is just so powerful and sexy.

It's not about sex at all, Daryl himself said "this song is about being a struggling artist", when he performed Worship & Tribute in CBGB, NY.

Glassjaw – Motel of the White Locust Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about a couple who go to Hollywood "Welcome to Hollywood, girl", in order for the girl to pursue her dreams (as an actress maybe?), and the girl ends up cheating on him "Who could ever, Who the fuck could ever, Take the place of me?", probably to further her career, and when he finds out, all hell breaks loose and he beats her "Though I like your pretty eyes better blackened, And my fists all fucking red".

"I've kissed up to God two years", I think this means they were together for two years before this happened.

"Wipe off you mouth, Get up off your knees and make me your god", they probably hooked up a final time after.

"Followed by a boy like this, Re-ignited by all your visits", they break up but she comes to visit him.

And then they move on.

Glassjaw – Train in Vain (The Clash cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
I think he's talking about his girl doing heroin or shooting up something, then cheating on him and leaving him. "Train in vein", like the tracks that show up on your arm after you shoot up, trains run on tracks, get it?

Glassjaw – Last Kiss Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is about a priest (or an art teacher "Sketch it out. Shut up now") who works at a Catholic school and his sexual relations with one of the students.

"Take nothing sacred. Nothing's sacred.", well seeing as he's screwing a catholic school GIRL, she's younger than he is and they're both supposed to be religious, but he corrupted her.

"Slide me by throughout.", I think he's talking about having sex with her, and since he's older and more developed it's harder to get inside her because she's tight.

"It's the familiar smell of pencils, And its ready to sketch again.", there he is talking about having her come back to have sex with him again, and again.

Glassjaw – Convectuoso Lyrics 18 years ago
When he says "Man over woman.." he means having intercourse (missionary position).

"Not enough to say, 'I love all of you.'", seems to me like he tells the women he sleeps with that he cares about them to get what he wants.

"We are ok in a misguided sadist's way. We are ok.", sadists are supposed to get gratification from inflicting pain on others, but in this case, the women who are supposed to be sadists, are in fact acting as masochists, who like pain inflicted on them by men (emotional or physical "It's scrolled your back, your kneck and your wrists").

"Rancid American womanhood. I'll see your American womanhood.", American women are supposed to be above other women because generally we have more rights, but he thinks that they are being stupid and wasteful by going back to the times when they were just sexual objects (such as Caligula's reign).

Glassjaw – Two Tabs of Mescaline Lyrics 18 years ago
I know when Daryl sings "salting the back of a snail" he is talking about ejaculating on someone, because in some performances of this song he does the "jacking-off" motion when he sings this part.

Bayside – Don't Call Me Peanut Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about a boy and a girl who are already broken up and in the process of letting go, she's mostly moved on, but he can't stop loving her. It seems to me like she's trying to let him down easily, even though she's with another guy. She wants him to think that what they had was special by telling him she's still in love with him.
