This song is straight-forward...it really just explains how you feel when you truely are just so dissappointed with yourself...and people around you try to cheer you up and point out your good qualities, but you just don't believe them because you don't see it. |

I agree with twinegarden. This song is so sweet and romantic, and I don't find it sexist at all. I'm a girl, and there is this guiy who just seems so sad, and I am dying for him to open up to me, I want to help him with his proeblems. When you care about someone, you want to help them when they seem sad-so I don't find that condescendning at all.
Anyway, beautiful song-Jack White is a born romantic. |

Yea Sparta is great, especially live. I've seen them 4 times and it gets better every time-one of the most sincere bands out there.
I agree with atdi7777 about the meaning...I think Jim is having trouble balancing his marriage with touring, or maybe just day to day problems. Overall, a beautiful love song. |

To me, this song is about wantning to be in love, but a pure, ideal love. I think Billy is saying that love isn't what it used to be, that it's all about sex and indulgence-"cast the pearls aside, simple life of need" and "the empty bodies stand at rest
casualties of their own flesh, afflicted by their dispossession". Basically, no one cares about true love and devotion anymore (no bodies felt like you) and this person can't deal with that, they want true love (the tragedies reside in you, the lonely nights divide you in two). But because this person can't find true love amid all of that, their idealized version of love-and the search for it-is killing them, so love is suicide. |

Perfect song-Billy is just brilliant. Like most die-hard SP fans, I want this as my wedding song! This is what true love should feel like. Billy was with Yelena Yemchuk at the time he wrote this, so the song is probably about her, Cabrosa. |

yea, basically about realizing you have to pull yourself together-but more importantly, you have to forgive yourself in order to move on. Some of Sparta's lyrics can be really inspirational, and I agree, Jim's vocals sound great on this song. |

yep, definitely about Jim's grandfather....I saw them live when this album came out, and he said so right before they played this song. But I agree with Razin, too-Porcelain does have themes on loss, so some songs/lyircs were probably inspired by jeremy, too. |

I think this song is about someone you love going through a hard time, and trying to reassure them that none of the negative will matter in the end, all that will matter is what they mean to eachother. Jim probably wrote this for his wife-Jim's vocals are great in this song, especially when he screams "all i ever need" towards the end-he really throws himself into it-Jim is probably one of the most sincere musicians out there. |
