The Corrs – Old Town Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's straightforward - it's about a guy and a girl. The guy cheats on her ("she broke the rules, she hurt him hard" and "he's lost his trust and so she must know all is lost"). He's completely crushed over the matter, but tells himself he'll get better. Then he goes to the town where the two lived - it seems he's still living there - and all the places remind him of her. In short, he's "broke down" and missing her.

On another note, I hope people know this is a cover of Phil Lynott's song (he's from Thin Lizzy).

The Beatles – Baby It's You Lyrics 18 years ago
If you want to hear some great vocals by John, then listen to the Live at the BBC version of this song. I'm not a big fan of this song, but once John began to sing there was no way I could skip it. I really do think he had one of the best voices in rock that we'll ever hear.

The Who – Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this is Pete writing about himself. He often felt pressured to come up with new ideas for the band. He was really alone when it came to the writing. The media also portrayed him in very negative ways and it probably got to him. I don't think people should read into the blue eyes bit too much. It doesn't have anything to do with Hitler or Aryans. Maybe Pete just has blue eyes? Or blue just could be a simple representation of sadness. Also, I watched a documentary where he said Roger always interpreted the song to have to do with repressed anger, but he always meant for it to be about repressed love.

George Harrison – When We Was Fab Lyrics 18 years ago
(Why doesn't this song have more comments??)

"Fab - like this pullover you sent to me"

This part could have some meaning to do with how everything comes and goes in phases... That this pullover someone sent to him might be stylish now but not necessarily in the future.

However, I found it interesting in another way because it reminded me of this quote: "The Beatles exist apart from my Self. I am not really Beatle George. Beatle George is like a suit or shirt that I once wore on occasion and until the end of my life people may see that shirt and mistake it for me."

Franz Ferdinand – This Boy Lyrics 18 years ago
the_white_stripe, I don't think this is about a gay boy. I think this boy is just one of those teen guys who thinks he is awesome and invisible.

It seems this boy's bathed in ridicule
Too forward, way too physical
It's time that I had another
I'm always wanting, more if there's another one

I think that means he's busy going after girls and he only wants these girls for one thing. He kind of sees the girls of objects, dispensable once he's had his share of fun with them. Hence, instead of saying "I hope I meet a nice girl," for example, he says "It's time I had another."

Anyone find it funny that The Beatles have a song called "This Boy" and its message is the complete opposite of this one?

The Beatles – It Won't Be Long Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song for a few reasons... A lot of bands during that time had one vocalist and that was pretty much it. All of the Beatles got to sing lead vocals, and the others always provided great backing vocals. The yeah yeah in this song are a great example of that. That also makes the song kind of similar to "She Loves You." But my other reasons... Well, it's just an awesome, feel-good song!

And this is a John song, but I bet Paul contributed too.

The Beatles – Misery Lyrics 18 years ago
The Great Wok, I didn't know the lyrics of this song came before the music. It's interesting because it was like that every now and then for John (such as Across the Universe), but Paul had that only happen once (All My Loving).

The Troggs did it first. The original is actually really good.

The Beatles – I'm Happy Just to Dance with You Lyrics 18 years ago
I don’t wanna kiss or hold your hand,
If it’s funny, try an’ understand.
There is nothing else I’d rather do,
‘Cos I’m happy just to dance with you.

Haha, I think that definitely is reverse psychology. All the same, it is a fun song written for George to sing (one of the first).

The Beatles – I've Just Seen a Face Lyrics 18 years ago
This isn't about drugs and, as others have said, it was not written for the black women fighting racism... The tune to this song was something Paul used to play on the piano for his Aunt. Years later he gave it the words we know today. It's just a really up-beat, fun song about love at first sight!

The Beatles – And I Love Her Lyrics 18 years ago
These lyrics aren't exactly correct... The line that says "And I love" should be "And I love her."

born to run, I notice the same melancholy tone to the song as you. It's something that is really hard to explain because the song is just so lovely. It is like "I'll Follow the Sun," but less so. Only Paul could write such a song...

WhiteHorse, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds is actually based on Alice in Wonderland and a painting by Julian Lennon... Do your research.
