I think this song has some amazing lyrics i'm not a huge delta fan so i dont really notice or care that she's changed her image, but i like this song and i think the point of this site is to point out the meaning in songs not to point out what you dislike about the artist |

k i dont care who on here thinks what about this song, i'm just going to put in my two cents worth. when i first heard this song i was not a christian and i was like ok this is nice and its some corny love song then, becoming a christian, this song took on a whole other meaning. take it as you will but every line of this song works for any christian who is true to their faith and has actually experienced the real presence of god! desperate for changing. starving for truth! thats exactly where this world is at today! everyone is looking for something whether you realise it or not! im standing here until you make me move...i've felt that! when all you want is for him to literally move you! when you're willing to give him your all! theres nothing else to lose, theres nothing else to find, theres nothign in the world that could change my mind! what more is there to say?! so this is my take on this song. but hey everyone is open to have their own ideas about the song. most christian bands write songs that can be taken from different perspectives. its called writing music that doesnt work for just one stereotypical group. amen |

This song is amazing! I've loved Brooke Fraser's work for some time now and this song has never really spoken to me until i've experienced its emotions first hand! The way I see it, this song is about someone who's friends have backslided away from god and they are trying not to be pulled in by the temptation but know they have already began to fall in. However this person is trying desperately to cling tight to god who will pull them out into safety. 'I have this sinking feeling Something's weighing me down I am completely saturated The waves are crashing closer My feet already drowned Doing the thing I said I hated ' it is like they have begun to be drawn in by the 'waters', like they are turning to things they never agreed to. It holds them back from reaching god. 'Wake up feeling convicted I know something's not right Re-acquaint my knees with the carpet I have to get this out 'Cos it's obstructing you and I Dry up the seas that keep us parted ' that person has been around the wrong crowd, into a state of temptation and they realise what they've done wrong so they get down on their knees and repent. They may not have even done anything wrong but being so...exposed to the wrong doings of people they thought they knew makes them feel covered in filth! basically the song is saying, hold tight to god. when you know something isnt right, stick with him and he'll keep you strong, be your rock and all. anyway, you can agree or disagree but this is what it means to me at this current point in time. Absolutely Beautiful! WOW! |
