| Said The Whale – Out on the Shield Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The song refers to the geographic region of Canada known as The Canadian Shield. The region's settlement by Europeans came largely as a result of the Gold Rush. It's talking about the idea of major cities still there today that exist because of the greedy obsession of people from generations past, as well as the idea that cities still exist in places where the original settlers had no intentions of making a permanent settlement. Their plans were to get the gold and get out. | |
| Weezer – She's Had A Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Has this been released somewhere? | |
| Weezer – Wanda, You're My Only Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Actually, You Gave Your Love was written separately, but ended up being used because the studio didn't like Wanda, which is written from the perspective of Angus. Part of why they didn't use it is because in the original cut of the film, it was established that the character's father was gay and that his mother was a trucker. However, the movie was recut to have the mother dead and no mention of the father's homosexuality was made. | |
| Weezer – You Gave Your Love To Me Softly Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The "Bijon" mentioned in the song is not the perfume, which is actually called Bijan, after its designer. He's referring to bijon, the Asian rice-noodle dish. | |
| Motion City Soundtrack – Last Night Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I don't know where people are getting the idea that the song occurs at a party, I don't get that message anywhere from these lyrics. This song is about his girlfriend breaking up with him because of his mental illness and anxiety issues. He is dealing with his anxiety throughout the whole song, evidenced through lines like: My panic research was no help I sink into myself Afraid of the fall that never ends I wait, but I'm too tired to play pretend I'll suffocate until the end When the girlfriend repeats these lines at the end, it shows she is breaking up with him over the same things he's been frustrated with throughout the whole song. |

| Josh Kelley – To Make You Feel My Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| You would. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Fall of the Star High School Running Back Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| William Donohue is the president of the Catholic League. However, in the recording I have of this song he says David Stanaforth Donahue. Davin Donahue is a race car driver. | |
| Tom Waits – Romeo Is Bleeding Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I don't think this song is about the Romeo character being injured or shot or literally bleeding. I think it's more metaphorical, saying that he's experiencing a deep emotional pain that he can't show to his fellow pachucos because they look up to him as their leader. He's trying to maintain the facade of being cool, composed, and unhurt, but the pain he is experiencing is killing him, and even while putting up the act he's constantly aware of it. | |
| Hella Fly Cool Kids – Romeo Is Bleeding! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Christian rock sucks. | |
| Company of Thieves – Even in the Dark Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's about how our culture is so materialistic, and we have our priorities so mixed up, valuing the material before living creatures. She sings how we must try and find our calling and find meaning in our lives despite the obvious materialism and other factors working against that goal. | |
| Weezer – I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is beautiful. | |
| Weezer – Superfriend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The line "Save deceits for the young girls" should actually read "Save the sweets for the young girls". | |
| Billy Bragg – Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I saw him play it on the Henry Rollins show, and these were the updated lyrics he was using. There are a few parts that I can't tell what he's saying: It may have been Camelot for Jack and Jaqueline But on the Hugo Chavez highway filling up with gasoline Little Donald Rumsfeld spies a rich lady who's crying Over luxury's disappointment So he walks over and he's trying To sympathize with her But he thinks that he should warn her To prepare to be bombed back into the Stone Age In the former Soviet Union the citizens' demand To know why they're still the target Of Strategic Air Command And they shake their fists in anger And respectfully suggest That we take the money from our missiles and Spend it on our hospitals instead The Cold War now is over But the stakes are getting higher I'm frightened of collateral damage and of friendly fire And I don't believe we can defeat no Axis of Evil By putting smart bombs in the hands of dumb people Mixing pop and politics, they ask me what the use is I offer up my acupuncturist, my masseuses While looking down the corridor Out to where my ego is waiting I'm looking for the New World Order Jumble sales are organized All my mates got back Even after all this time you can still send me a fax You can be active with the activists or Sleep in with the (????) I'm waiting for the great leap forwards One leap forwards, two leaps back Will YouTube give MTV the sack? Waiting for the great leap forwards Well, here comes the future and you can't run from it If you've got a (????) I wanna be on it, mate Waiting for the great leap forwards In a perfect world we'd all sing in tune but This is reality, not American Idol Waiting for the great leap forwards So join the struggle while you may The revolution is just an ethical haircut away (???) Waiting for the great leap forwards |

| Toby Keith – Courtesy of the red, white, and blue (angry american) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Toby Keith is a blubbering fascist. Rednecks the world over saluted this sick excuse for a human being when he released this liquid shit of a song. These people are almost as big of piss-garglers as Toby Keith himself. The War on Terror is a joke, and Tony Keith can go fuck himself. God is fake, and so is the devil, but if they were real, Toby Keith would likely spend all of eternity being raped by Satan himself. Fuck him. |

| Alan Jackson – Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is purely an expression of ignorance. I respect Jackson for paying tribute to those who died in 9/11, but this cumrag touts his ignorance of other cultures and beliefs the same way he flaunts his piss-poor music. His comments about turning off violent movies to watch "I Love Lucy" reruns, while going out and buying a gun, are laughable at best. Dustin' off the ol' Bible, I Love Lucy reruns? Give me a break. This yearning for backwards 1950's ideals makes me sick. Fuck Alan Jackson, he's a talentless piece of shit who makes me want to fucking puke, and I would sooner receive oral sex from a shark before listening to this song again. | |
| Sick City – XX and XY Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about a guy cheating on his wife in Vegas. | |
| Sick City – In The Millions Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The entire "Where Do We Go From Here?" EP is about a guy who goes to Vegas, without telling his wife, with the intent of making it big on the strip. While he's there, he gets really drunk, cheats on his wife, loses all his money, then dies in a car accident. This is the first song, talking about how stoked he's gonna be to call his wife up on the way home to tell her he's rich. | |
| Jack Johnson – Hope Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| God's fake. Homosexuality is fine, what's there to disagree with? | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Slide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| What a pitiful recompensation for ruining her life. | |
| Glassjaw – Losten Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think you're wrong. This song is about circumcision. | |
| The Weakerthans – Civil Twilight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is about a bus driver who's route takes him by his ex's house every two hours, and he's forced to remember her every two hours. | |
| Norma Jean – Cemetery Like a Stage Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The story goes that Corey's dad was a cop. whose partner was killed in action. On the way to his partner's funeral, he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. | |
| Norma Jean – The Shotgun Mwssage Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song lost so much meaning to me when I came to the realization that it is about Jesus. It loses so much emotional relevance to me knowing that it is not about a personal experience but about Jesus. | |
| Norma Jean – Vertebraille - Choke That Thief Called Dependance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Not all of Norma Jean's songs are about god. They are a Christian band with Christian members, and some of their lyrics deal with Christianity, but not all of them. For example, the lyrics to "Cemetary Like A Stage" is about the death of his father. I think it's preposterous to try and trivialize a brilliant band like Norma Jean by pigeonholing their lyrics to featuring solely Christian subject matter. | |
| He Is Legend – Mushroom River Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
These lyrics and the corrections to them are both wrong. These are the lyrics from the CD booklet. The trees are alive They held their arms up high And with a whisper, they sighed Your name against the wind Your skin was surprised Your hair grew out to cover your new blisters I tried to learn about your sin I used to be you And you used to be me Her body is a drug That's why you feel so crazy We are the things that were And we shall be them again Although these were all dreams We'll never wake from them That's when someone spoke The crippled river decided his legs Were not broke, and stood up above me I watched as he choked And threw up all the ships that had been buried I woke with you next to me I used to be you And you used to be me Her body is a drug That's why you feel so crazy We are the things that were And we shall be them again Although these were all dreams You will never wake from them Hello, wanderer, I Wish you'd let me talk to her, I Have so much to say And hello, magic man, please Teach me to stand again There is so much to see Hello, honey child You sure can drive me wild I wish you'd let me peak Hello, strangest stranger I hate to put your life in danger You are the one I seek You must have lost your mind Scratched off the warning sign I watched the dancers bow Just as the ghost wolf howled |
