Do you see all the destruction that is taking place? The ravaged cabbage drifts on dark red skies And it looks so nice Gee it looks so nice This might be completely wrong but the 'ravaged cabbage' seems to be a metaphor for bombs, and the whole bombing that went off in afghanistan, maybe? The "cabbages" being ravished may indicate war mongering. and 'Gee it looks so nice' sounds like sort of sardonic, sarcastic remark about the bombings. and looking back on this stanza: Shake you rattle-snake skin And become a part of society could refer to the whole way back when, 'Don't Tread On Me'... the whole view of the United States being a rattlesnake. |

i agree with ssslowlikehoney, 100%. i started listening to circa survive this morning and before i got on this site i had no idea about Juturna being based off of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.. Ironic that i watched it last night and seeing all the similarities between the two, theres no doubt that MANY if not all of the songs on Juturna are refrencing to ESOTSM.. i think that songwriters write songs so different people can relate to them in different ways. so the song could mean something completely apart from the movie to some, but i think that he wrote a lot of the songs from Juturna with that movie in mind. |

[PLEASE don't bitch at me for this.] Lies for the Liars is a lot different than the Used's older stuff, a lot more mainstream if you will... most of the songs don't have much screaming from bert or anyone [which i love] but i mean, its a great album and it shows how much they've matured and changed... i really like this song, its filled with a lot of emotion.. it makes me feel all achey inside, in a good way though. i kind of agree with 'true believer' when they say its not about a she.. he left the SHE behind and he never really specifies who the person hes singing about is... i mean seriously, read the lyrics. and i REALLY don't want to sound so cliche by saying this is about gerard way, because it might not be.. it could just be about another girl, or a guy. its bert.. who knows, seriously? She had an earthquake on her mind I almost heard her cry out as I left her far behind and knew the world was crashing down around her so hes dating this girl he loves, but he's either gay or bi and hes found some guy he loves more and hes ending it.. and he left her behind devastated and he felt bad he left everything fall to pieces. I sink to the ocean floor because I know that we are more but I've made this mess I built this fire, Are you still mine? hes afraid to tell the person [guy] he loves just exactly how he feels and he felt like he screwed it all up somehow... maybe a fight. and hes just saying do you still love me after what happened? i HAAAAAATEEEEE tieing everything on this album to MCR because that totally kills the meaning of all of ths songs but its just too controversial NOT to tie it all together.. and it just all clicked with me... i will explain after i analyze this song. i really like this song, its just so RAWR.. prbly best song on the album. its so confusing though! every time i listen to it i get a different sense of what this song's about. ive written two responses already.. and i was a bit hesitant to link EVERY SONG on Lies for the Liars to gerard way... but this song really does sound like it's directed towards him now that i have the lyrics book in front of me... which, btw they are very wrong on here.. i'm not trying to talk about stuff i don't know because i find that really annoying but looking at this song from the gerard/bert 'relationship' point of view... this sounds like bert is talking about a person.. possibly gerard possibly not whos family hates him for either... a.) his self destructive habits.. or b.) being gay.. it might be a little irrational to say this song is about being gay, BUT when people started talking about religion i was thinking well... it could be about religion in the aspect of bert and gerards 'relationship' [i still think it was for media attn.] and about how gerard denied it and was lying about it to everyone but his parents knew and hence the whole 'yr gonna burn in hell' stuff... and about his father touching him with the 'hand of God'... in judgement, you know? idk it made sense when i was thinking about it. |

a lot of these lyrics aren't even right.. but! it seems like this song is written in distress.. gerard/the band NEEDS to get home, but he doesn't know how or when he will ever make it... i DON'T think it's about a 'her' at all... its about the guys in the band missing their families and friends back home and feeling like this tour they're on, promotions, or whatever are endless.. the second verse kind of got to me when i first listened to the song.. i was like geez, is he making fun of us as fans?? but ive come to believe that this verse is him talking to maybe some 'fangirls' or fake fans.. 'Do you want to hold my hand? Could you sign this photograph? Cuz I'm your biggest fan. this is him basically mocking the fangirls, all the squealing thirteen year olds that are like OMG GERARD I LOOOOOVEE YOU ohh yr SOO HOTT!!! people that aren't even into MCR for the music. then when he says... 'Would You Leave Me Lying Here?' it seems like hes asking them.. are you for real or not? it makes me think back to when he dyed and cut his hair and everyone was FREAKING out about it... getting all pissed off. its hair, it doesn't affect the way they sound. it also reminds me of the whole eliza cuts fiasco.. and how all the girls on myspace were basically stalking her and sending her sister messages about her and gerard dating... bah! frustrating! anyways.. also.. he says "well my markers, come in seven different shades of shit.. so what's yr favorite color, punk?"... not anything about guns.. i think this could have a few different meaings so i'm going to list them all.. i think when he says that line he could be referring to the music MCR makes.. they have three very different albums and they sound totally different.. and a lot of people were dissing the black parade because they felt like MCR 'sold out' or they changed their songs so they would sell.. so yeah theres one theory. it could also be once again connecting to the second verse, the fake fans begging for autographs... it could also be connected to his art. | sorry dag, but i must. i was on youtube looking up this song because you know EVERYTHINGS on youtube. anyways, someone had commented about being at taste of chaos and bert introduced liar,liar by saying something to the effect of 'this song is about two faced liars... not to mention any names but my chemical romance is one of them' i dont think that the feud is the main point of the song, but i do think its part of it. he seems to have a very strong grudge against MCR, Gerard mostly. this song does seem to be about religion, catholics maybe. because catholics are said to be such hypocrites, alcoholics, but then always telling people to come to church, be saved. not saying thats my opinion of catholics or religion.. but. yeah. | |

this song is amazing.. its so much different than anything that the used has ever done before. it sounds darker and idk.. i just love it. i THINK there's two versions of the song out because i downloaded one and it sounded a lot different than the video version.. the video version is a lot better, a lot "harder" rock. heres a link to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12dBCgAo-RA as for the meaning.. i gather from seeing the video and listening to the song that bert [or the character in the song] seems to be trying to escape something... possibly their old selves, which to me sounds like drugs. in the beginning when he's singing about his backpack being all that he knows.. a lot of drug users/dealers keep their drugs in backpacks.. when he sings 'all alone he turns to stone.' i think that is saying the character, or bert [w/e] faces fear of being by himself and hurting himself once more. 'to save his life he crawls like a worm from a bird' could be refrencing to the helplessness that bert [or the character] faces trying to get out of their old habits, the drugs or self destructive habits [the bird] looming over them and trying to pull them under. basically, i think this song is about ridding yrself of old habits, self destruction. i think its about some kind of battle this person in the song has with themselves... |
