| Iron Maiden – Chains Of Misery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| No, Can I play with Madness is based on the same thing the rest of the Seventh Son album is, Orson Scott Card's fantasy novel series "The Tales of Alvin Maker". | |
| Manowar – The Oath Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"False prophets and deceivers swing from the trees." My favourite line indeed. |
|
| Bullet for My Valentine – Creeping Death Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's a cover of a Metallica song from their "Ride the Lightning" album. I don't really like this version, vocally or musically. | |
| Iron Maiden – Judgement Of Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"lame lyriced song." I assume you'd prefer Insane Clown Posse or Limp Bizkit? Anyway, this song is just as excellent as anything else on The X Factor and Virtual XI. I believe it's about a person (Steve Harris?) who's been brought up religious, and is now beginning to question his beliefs. Myself an athiest, this song has special meaning to me. |

| Manowar – Swords In The Wind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's most likely that Manowar know about those misconceptions, but don't want to confuse the listeners. They aren't really vikings, you know :p | |
| Manowar – The Warrior's Prayer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's amazing when they do this live and the crowd follows the whole thing. | |
| Manowar – The Last Winged Unicorn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Don't the mods do anything on this site? | |
| Manowar – Hail To England Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Gothzilla's correct. "On English Ground - we were born." Manowar, all Americans, were founded in England. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Quest For Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I still believe this song's about that one spongebob episode | |
| Ghostface Killah – Iron Maiden Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Why does this song share the name of a classic band, song and album? | |
| Manowar – Battle Hymn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Obviously you are not a true Manowar fan. The song is Battle Hymn. Singular. And that's now how you set out lyrics... kids today. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Longest Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Yes, Iron Maiden have written songs with some neutrality (The Trooper, Paschendale), however, although this song also accurately a vividly displays the horror of war, it is also commenting on the people who start the wars, like Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", although much more subtly. Here are some examples. "All summers long the drills to build the machine To turn men from flesh and blood to steel" The men are no longer individuals. They simply become platoons, divisions, centurions, whatever army unit (and whatever war). The soldiers are no longer people - they are a mere device to win a war - to the point you can "win" a war. "From paper soldiers to bodies on the beach" 'Paper soldiers' has a dual meaning. Firstly, it refers to the machine guns tearing the men down on Normandy. Secondly, it reinforces what was stated in the lines previously. The soldiers may as well be made of paper, following orders from someone they have never met, and treated as such. "To take a bullet for those who sent them here" Quite simply, this speaks for itself. The generals who are giving the orders do not experience the horror of the war, yet they are treated as if they are heroes. They are the ones who built "the machine" as referred to earlier (and in War Pigs). The beauty of the song is that although it has a heavy political meanings, it also represents, with Bruce's poetic mastery, the atmosphere and feelings of those on Normandy beach. One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. |

| Iron Maiden – Hallowed Be Thy Name Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I especially love the line "Reflecting on my past life". It's as if the condemned man is already dead; his life is behind him now. | |

While trying to work out what some of the lyrics mean, I stumbled upon this review: http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/?url=album04_pom/commentary04_pom&lang=eng&link=albums#track2 And it makes a lot of sense, although the author doesn't really give his references. |

| Vanishing Point – Day of Difference Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The lines in italics are from the musical and film "Man of La Mancha". In the play (and movie),Miguel de Cervantes (The main character) is in prison, telling a skeptic about his poetic vision of the world. The skeptic says, “You poets run away from reality. A man has to come to terms with life as it is!” Cervantes retaliates with those lines. How the lyrics are related to the quote, I honestly do not know. |

| The dead zone was originally a book by Stephen King, but a good point never the less. Very catchy chorus. | |
| Manowar – Heart Of Steel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Those who laugh and crowd the path and cut each other's throats Will fall like melting snow" I love these lines, and how they talk about those who look down on you for listening to metal. |
|
| Metallica – Wherever I May Roam Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Ties are severed clean" refers to his connection with his old life being left behind. Also, Metallica is a very deep band, so these lyrics could refer to any of the interpretations discussed here, or even more. |

| Manowar – King Of Kings Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song has positively the best chorus ever. It flows so nicely. | |

| Manowar – Brothers of Metal, Pt. 1 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Without even listening to the song, I can note the lyric changes (And layout) Strike, while the iron is hot Steel is strongest, so say we all And if we all were not brothers of metal, would we fall? (NO) They tried to test our spirit They tasted steel before we were done Grinding their bones into the dust of the past All blown away, like a shot from a gun We cast our lot together, four still stand as one Here we'll remain forever, 'till our kingdom's won Brothers of Metal We are fighting with power and steel Fighting for metal Metal that's real Brothers of metal will always be there Standing together with hands in the air Let us drink to the power, drink to the sound Thunder and metal are shaking the ground Drink to your brothers, who are never to fall We're all brothers of metal here in the hall Our hearts are filled with metal, and masters we have none And we will die for metal, Metal heals, my son Brothers of Metal We are fighting with power and steel Fighting for metal Metal that's real Brothers of metal will always be there Standing together with hands in the air Let us drink to the power, drink to the sound Thunder and metal are shaking the ground Drink to your brothers, who are never to fall We're all brothers of metal here in the hall Our hearts are filled with metal, and masters we have none And we will die for metal, Metal heals, my son Brothers of Metal We are fighting with power and steel Fighting for metal Metal that's real Brothers of metal will always be there Standing together with hands in the air |
