It's a fairly self explanatory song, but at the same time the verses are pretty cryptic and ambiguous. It seems to be about a guy who is forced to move on, but will always leave some little spot open for a girl; who is assumedly is a lost love or maybe a girl he always had a thing for. I would really like it if someone could enlighten me on a more specific meaning of the verses though! As if no one has commented on this song yet, its wonderful!~ |

| Springsteen's Tunnel of Love is a truly outstanding song, and indeed album, but Knophler's Tunnel of Love is in my opinion, the downright most heartfelt song I have ever. I recently watched the film "An Officer and a Gentleman," which contains a large segment of this song. The song, as heartfelt as it already is, was so appropriate in this situation, as those who have seen this film would know. This prompted me to come on SM and comment on just how amazing this song is. None of this 3 minute crap released today can even come close to masterpieces like this, When someone can manage to make an 8 minute song remain interesting and progressive for its entirety, you can tell they have real talent. | |

Perhaps it's about a broken relationship? Powderfinger don't seem to write stuff along these lines often, but whenever I listen to this song I think of it in reference to one. I guess the entire first verse makes me think that it is,; "Tonight my heart well it broke like glass I made a mistake that I'll never surpass I'm floating in space unattached to the world I cast off the memory of the spell of that girl Whatever i get i guess it's what I deserve" I can't really think of any other meanings this song could have. At any rate it's a great song to sing along to with mates... one of the better songs off Dream Days, but the entire album is pretty good quality. |

| You know... I'm a fan of Pearl Jam, Live, Stone Sour, Jason Wade, Radiohead and Powderfinger, but I can still enjoy this song for what it is... I never even liked Hanson or any of that teeny-bopper shit... but this song is fun and good to dance too. Only negative about this is the young teens trying to write about relationships and love. One of live's most personal songs. Unlike most of their music, the "love" referred to in this song is not about god, but a girl. He loves her for everything she is, he loves her not because he can live with her, but rather he loves her because he cant live without her. He wants to be there for her, Both physically and emotionally all that he knew before hand has become meaningless and mundane. "oh, I dream about you every night I call your name the whole world thinks that I am insane" A brilliant love song, a rarity from live... since most of the songs they write about love seem to have highly religious references. |
