I agree with Anarchitect about the basic feeling of manipulation being reflected by the marionette imagery. I feel that it is expounded upon by the interplay between brief, repudiated attempts to address these feelings and abrupt internal reactions to the dismissal. One can feel the dialogue turning inwards with the "Don't you know life turns me...." bit, expressing a brooding resentment for the denial of self, as if the person knows this simply can't go on, but is helpless and without recourse. |

a whimsical interpolation of the "generation gap", you know, as in "oh, i get it, i'm getting old, losing touch"- sorta micro-epiphany/angst moments;, but objectively observed by one a half-generation younger or so.... my best guess |
