I feel that this is a song about a father talking to his son (but no directly to him). How he sees the troubles in his life and that he knows the same story all too well cause he was also once a child (very similar to him) . He could either being talking as the father being dead and speaking from heaven or from speaking as a father in the present day through sing/song form. |

it feels as if he is trying to relate with someone whom he loves a lot. such that "my name is you" and that although what his friend is doing (aka probably drugs or murder) he relates to his friend by doing the same things. They are killing themselves since "flies around them" represent a dead body. also that the devil gave him credit for falling into sin and that he just didnt want his friend to be alone down in the pits of hell, figuratively speaking |

idk how to change that lyric but it goes instead of " i hope i can see you hardly" it says "i hope i can see you again" and i think its about a kid who was on a beach all night waiting for his girl to wash up out of the ocean to meet him at dawn. and it wasnt him there because he actually cant see himself with her because they are worlds apart, which is represented by the ocean between them. |
