i like this song. i think it's about unhappy people - "For those of us who live in fear/Of Happy Christmas and New Year" - not wanting a new year or to celebrate. and he's "saluting" them but the "we" rather than, say, "I", suggests they are others out there who feel the same. it's a message to people who feel alone and maybe suicidal. it's quite lovely anyway. |

I suppose it's about Liverpool? Whenever I cross over on the ferry they always play this song and it irritates me after a while lol. I like "People around every corner They seem to smile and say We don't care what your name is boy We'll never turn you away" the Scousers really are great, a good laugh and just generally a nice lot I think. There's bad apples everywhere but I do love Liverpool and I think that verse nicely describes the majority of true scousers! |

| this song is amazing. I want it played at my funeral. It's haunting and beautiful. I'm not quite sure what it means. I think it's about love, someone she's fell in love with but it has biblical references so it might have some religious undertones. | |
