| Rehab – Welcome Home Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This has got to be one of the best songs to come out this summer. Anyways, I'd have to say it's just about visiting home in your adult years and reminiscing about your youth, all the while having a warm welcome from your family ("Welcome home"). |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Little Boxes (Malvina Reynolds cover) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Wow, I didn't even know they covered this. The original song was written in the "Levittown" era, when mass-produced housing started popping up on every hillside. The song was basically mocking/complaining about that. |

| Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| When I heard this song I thought of R.E.M's Cuyahoga which came out the year prior to this song's release, 1986 vs 1987. | |
| Tom Petty – Listen To Her Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Best Rickenbacker guitar track next to a few REM songs. The meaning's obvious, and let's keep it that way. |

| R.E.M. – Man-Sized Wreath Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I forgot one thing: The three block-figures w/ suits and ties in the video on the screens: Top Corporate/Government people "getting rid" of the issues at hand, mainly the oil industry again, since it shows the block-guys dancing in front of oil wells at the end |

You watch the new video for this song (look on Youtube), and you get a sense it has to do with everything wrong with this country today. -The limos in the video: The government in general -Limos hitting people: The gov't doesn't care about you -Limos stopping in front of the guy: China, specifially the Tieneman Square Fiasco (And we still do everything with them) -Limos crashing through and destroying the forest, then the smokestacks: Destroy/pollute the environment, the feds (republicans mainly) support it, w/ the oil industry -"Kick it out on the dancefloor like you just don't care": We don't care/are too ignorant to notice any of this -Camera w/ "You're being watched" sign in the video: The federal wiretapping and spying in general -The limos crashing into the guy and getting blown up: We gotta stop all of this crap That's what I get from the video anyhow, and how it relates to the song. I could be wrong w/ any of this though |

| R.E.M. – Hollow Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it's about someone who got caught up with themselves so much that they didn't care about others, and said some things they regret saying. And now someone who wants to change them. ("I can't believe you held your ground.) | |
| R.E.M. – Ignoreland Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I meant, the 1979 hostage crisis and how it led to the republicans ruling this country until Clinton came into office | |
| R.E.M. – Ignoreland Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Michael said it was about the 1979 hostage crisis at the REM concert in Philly last night | |
| R.E.M. – Supernatural Superserious Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| LF, gotta agree with you again. Rieflin's definitely come along as R.E.M's drummer. I think the fact that he actually took a part in this single and Accelerate, rather than going on strike with Peter Buck as with Around the Sun, helps too. | |
| R.E.M. – Orange Crush Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I've got my spine I've got my orange crush" That's the lyrics, that's what comes out of Stipe's mouth everytime he sings it. If you didn't get that part, REM being a very political band should give it away. |
|
| R.E.M. – Supernatural Superserious Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Their best single in a long time. Low Feedback hit the nail on the head in terms of the meaning IMHO. Accelerate only too 9weeks to record and 10days to mix it, and Stringfellow's not touring with them "due to the more guitar-focussed nature of the new material." Let's hope the rest of the record's this good. |

| R.E.M. – Orange Crush Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| One more thing, when's the last time any of REM's music videos made sense, besides maybe Bad Day or Animal. | |
| R.E.M. – Orange Crush Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Hmm, "Collar me, don't collar me" - might mean the collars the people had to wear like RLK said. "I've got my spine" - the spinal disorder. "We are agents of the free" - The U.S troops there to spread freedom. "I've had my fun and now its time to Serve your conscience overseas (over me, not over me)" - I've served my term, now get over there and have your turn. "Coming in fast, over me" - The helicopter flying overhead. Maybe, I'm probably being too literal though IA |

| R.E.M. – It's the End of the World as We Know It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Don't people say thiss song originated from 'Bad Day,' which we all know is about someone having a bad day (or hating the media/government, whatever.) Maybe the "Can't I have some time alone" line points back to that "Leave me alone" kind of thing. Just a though IA |

| R.E.M. – Permanent Vacation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Great song, heard/saw it on the Perfect Square DVD. About a person who just wants a permanent vacation from life. Best end-of-the-school-year-song ever. |
