I don't really think you can say that this song is about anything but whales, unless its your subjective interpretation. There is nothing mentioned but whales, the ocean and death. No references, nothing to go off of. Just ambiguous song writing. Why can't a song just be about whales, instead of some complex moral duality? |

| Bloc Party – Banquet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is about abstinence. "And we don't read the papers, we don't read the news Heaven's never enough, we will never be fooled" Pretty much describes todays youth, "Heavens never enough" meaning getting into Heaven by staying abstinate isn't a good enough reason/motivation. "We will never be fooled" describing the choice not to believe in Religion. "Becoming Adult" It is common in cultures around the world that losing your virginity is a part of becoming a Man/Woman. "And if you feel A little left behind (a little left behind) We will wear you on the other side" Describing as losing your virginity being a "visible line" that you cross. And if course this song is chock full of sexual themes, made this one pretty obvious to me. Of course it can mean anything to anyone, though. |

Man, I have the re-released version of this song. And I can't help but think I've heard this beat before... That bassline that resonates throughout the song... It's so amazing. Makes me think I've heard it in some marley song. Listen to "this heat in dub" re-released version. its amazing. |

The first paragraph reminds me of the sun. It rises in the east. The lies that died would be that the sun revolves around the earth, the truth would be the contrary. Still have yet to be sure on the rest. |

| Brand New – Untitled Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Hmmm, I was listening to Explosions in the Sky recently, and came upon a startling discovery. Listen to this: Day Eight, "The Rescue (EP)", by Explosions in the Sky. It sounds so similar, I'd say the general beat and notes are about 75% the same. Explosions in the Sky released this song first though, sorry Brand New >< I'm not saying its stolen, just a weird, creepy coincidence. Theres just something eerie about this song, its amazing. |

| Minus the Bear – I'm Totally Not Down with Rob's Alien Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is an incredible piece of work, and that IS an understatement. Its about when your at home, and finally everybody is out of the house, and the bickering and fighting is gone at last... And just as you start to enjoy the solitude, the constant noise returns. Swimming out and just waiting for nothing is an analogy, because as your enjoying the quietness, it will inevitably end - waiting for nothing. |

My fav part... "I might be amazed like a baby but" ya that line, its so amazing, wise and melodic. What do the quails and vultures represent? I thought I heard that the refrence to vultures is a refrence to his ex |

| Horse the Band – Manateen Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Obviously comparing manatee's to teens (manaTEEN). I think it is about teen years, where raging horomones grasp ahold of kids emotions. It's about the insecurity, and how media portrays how one should look. "My body is in the magazines My face on the TV My voice on the radio That's me in my dreams" The rest is metaphors and similies describing the emotion. |

| The Fall of Troy – The Dark Trail Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
First line is pretty simple, as for the moon he is either talking about smoking in the night or the circular white pills that may resemble a moon, and perhaps a crescent (refrence to a crescent later in song as well) moon once hes scratched a pieces off. As for the second line, I have never done Oxycontin myself but if your smoking the pill, the top side will obviously burn away and turn charred. Leaving the other side "Bigger and Brighter". Just a guess, I have no doubt the song has double meanings. |

| The Fall of Troy – Ex-Creations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about staying the same. "Lock down stay undefined..." Staying the same is like shooting yourself, because change is good. Life without change isnt really life. The bullet rotting in the stomach gives a stagnant feeling. And of course the title EX creation suggests that it was a creation / no longer is a creation due to 'locking down' or staying undefined. |

| At the Drive-In – Arcarsenal Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| The Fall of Troy – The Dark Trail Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Actually, it's not about marijuana. It's about smoking oxycodone (or commonly known as OxyContin). The pills usually come in color coded capsules, blue indicating the more common dosage, which is also mistaken for a time release coat. So people remove the blue coating - ("I can pick you up and undress you. Take your blue dress off and mess me up tonight.) - in order to get more fucked up. When you smoke it, the smoke leaves a DARK TRAIL. Since oxycodone is an opiod, it works by binding to opioid receptors found in the central neverous system and gastrointestinal tract ("Digest your tensions") maybe? Makes sense to me. |
