| 764-mouser, you're an elitist asshole. songs are created for personal interpretation. an artist may paint a picture just because he thinks a certain scene is pretty, but personal interpretation is what makes art (in all its forms) meaningful. good poets dont write with the intention of people knowing what *they're* talking about, they want *you* to make something up...same can go for songs and song lyrics. | |

I without a doubt think this song is about ecological conservation. "Picking insects off of plants No time to think of consequences" the lines before this talk about being a kid and even at that age protecting plants, but you (or the kid) was doing it out of instinct, perhaps, alluding to the fact that it is in our 'nature' to protect nature. "Control yourself Take only what you need from it" the most obvious lyric pointing to an environmental idea...controlling oneself, and only taking what is needed from the earth rather than just having a very generational-centric view of the earths resources. "A family of trees wanted to be haunted" possibly an abstract look at humans from the eyes of the forest... wishing to be a spooky, mystic, haunted forest that humans told tales about and avoided at all costs....rather than rushing in with chainsaws and axes... thats my understanding of the song...take only what you need from it. |

I think this song is about the singer becoming a zombie after being killed...and now hes walking around town scaring people...with black dirt falling off him and he walks around the street -- and hes saying that when he kills other people they too will be like him. its wild but its the first thing that came to mind. |

I think this song is about a man who is up at 3 in the morning and can't sleep because he's thinking about a woman who he used to have. he's looked all around for someone else like her but he hasn't been able to find anyone who can match her. So he's going to the "Golden Ground" which i would interpret as heaven. He says good bye, and tells his ex to forgive him for killing himself/what he did poorly in the relationship. |
