Laynes not the only person to have drug problems. Do people not realise how many of the harrowing drug related AIC lyrics were written by Jerry? They;ve both gone through some serious shit because of it. Just because its about drugs doesn't mean its about Layne |

| Jerry Cantrell – Mother's Spinning in Her Grave (Glass Dick Jones) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Yeah, Glass Dick is the crack pipe. Jones of course is the addicts hunger to his substance of choice. Like most of Jerry's lyrics. Its mostly all straight forward confessional stuff. But the power of the words come from their brutal honesty. Drugs...bad. |

| What it takes...to live | |
| Jerry Cantrell – Locked On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yes, its about Layne to some extent. But more importantly its about Jerry saying he can't be around that anymore. | |
| Jerry Cantrell – Hellbound Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I actually think this song is about the music industry, and his part in it turning to shit. | |
| Jerry Cantrell – Dying Inside Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is Jerry saying being a big rock star isn't all its cracked up to be. Everyone looks at him like he has everything, but he feels like he has nothing. |

"No last supper rite Bitchslapped 'fore you reached the table Born in ending times Leaning more toward Cain than Abel" Love that lyric. I thought it could've been a comment on how Alice in chains ended. |

| Jerry Cantrell – Hurts Don't It Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is like an updated version of Whale & Wasp. For a song without lyrics, it has a ton of emotional weight. Brilliant stuff. |

| Jerry Cantrell – Dickeye Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Well, A dickeye is sticking your dick in someones eye. Not that complicated. As for the song, the lyrics together with the song title make me think we're talking about a prowler/rapist. |

| Jerry Cantrell – Cold Piece Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song IMO is obviously about Layne Staley. Its first sung from Jerry's perspective about Layne, then sung as if by Layne. Layne of course had become a complete recluse with his crippling addictions and a rift had developed between the two because of it. This song is Jerry justifying to himself the fact that he wasn't there to help his former friend. So Jerry is saying, yes I would like to be there to help him, but he doesn't want my help. (Give up, go 'way I'm not yours to save) Its painful to see the damaged goods he has become, (Now you hear that there's something wrong Though it's sad, he lives his song) but I'm not a saint, there is nothing I can do, (You have no halo Don't spend your time sniffin' round dead shadows) |
