| Florence + the Machine – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| She fell in love with a Kree. | |
| Phantogram – My Only Friend Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This song reminds me a lot of A Walk to Remember, even down to their love of astronomy. I had all the stars with you And I had enough (A nod to the astronomy connection, time spent together) I will wait outside As long as you are alright I will know to die You are beloved (This reminds me of when doctors are bringing someone into the operating room and tell the family to wait outside. "I'll wait outside but you have to be fine".) The rest of the song seems to talk about them being together, then the subject collapsing, being told the battle is lost, seems to be about losing someone to a chronic illness, very much like A Walk to Remember. |

| The Civil Wars – My Father's Father Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think the train is a metaphor for death. It doesn't make sense for a train to only pass through every few years, and it's the only interpretation that makes it not weird that John mentioned his father's father's blood being on the tracks. | |
| Rasputina – Signs of the Zodiac Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
This song is simply too sad to be simply a cynical view of astrology or some sort of debate on bloodletting. She has a song for that (Leechwife). I think this song is about someone who is really sick (possibly with cancer, as someone said, but it doesn't really matter) and even though they are doing everything they can to avoid a painful death, they cannot and an angel of death is trying to tell them to kill themselves to avoid the pain, even though it's the same end result. I will explain. "Do you believe in the signs of the zodiac? Haven't you found that the systems for planning always fail?" Astrology believers look to the skies to try to find out their future and in effect be able to make present day decisions based on that future. In this case, the patient has been trying to change his future and plan around it, but to no avail. He will still die painfully. "Can you avoid what gave Daddy his heart attack? Have you tried everything, anything, all to no avail?" Many things can cause heart failure, but in general, what causes all cases is a person's mortality and imperfection. So this is where the angel of death is trying to convince the patient that he cannot live forever and has to die eventually. "I know what you need. This will really work. In ancient times, if you were sick, they'd make you bleed. Oh, honey, I know it hurts." The angel of death is trying to convince the patient to kill himself before his disease becomes more severe and causes him more pain. In ancient times, doctors would try to heal patients by making them worse first (which didn't always work, but that's besides the point. Or you could also interpret that as how in theory death will end your suffering but if you believe in hell then he would just continue suffering. but since i don't believe in hell, it's besides the point.), and so if he cuts off the progression of the disease, yes, it's the same end result, but less painful. "Look all around you and notice you're not alone. We want to give you the courage to go a different way. Think of the love and attention we all have shown. What did we do when we heard, well, we all came right away." This makes me think the angel of death is a family member that doesn't want to have to watch her relative suffer so much and wants him to know that the family loves them and is ready to let go. I think that makes perfect sense. |

| Rasputina – My Little Shirtwaist Fire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure it's "My best friend was alone in the end." | |
| Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I agree with you the most, but I would add in how someone said she dies by the end of the song to be with the person that died. It makes sense if you think of the Snow White/synapse section as being her brain function ceasing. I almost feel like she's been going to therapy to try to break herself of being so obsessed with the person that died and has been trying to emulate the response she was supposed to display of being able to go on with her life. The heavy breathing at the end seems to go with the dying interpretation because it sounds pretty "last-breathy" to me. Florence is the drum master. Between this and Drumming Song the drums make me act a little crazy, they're so amazing. |

| Sick Puppies – White Balloons Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think this song is about being in love with your best friend and when to take it to the next level. When that happens, it's about more than a physical connection. They really know each other. "I'm holding up white balloons up against a sky of doom. Tell me you see them. Cause what's inside of me is invisible to most, even in clear view." They are so close that they can sense how they feel when other people can't. "I'll break my silence if I believe that you and me could ever be more than just what's been behind us." Self explanatory If the white balloons represents his affection, then the chorus would signify that he wants them to take over and take the relationship to the next level. That's what I think anyway. |

| We Are The Fallen – St. John Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song seems like it is slamming religion to me, hence the name St. John. "All my questions have no answers." "Forgive me. With wings adorn me, so I can fly." It seems to me religion was a big part of her life, but it failed to teach her anything and filled her with guilt and confusion, making her feel insane. Insanity is a theme of the song as well. | |
| SR-71 – Broken Handed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it's about love that really can't work. Superman's only weakness is kryptonite, and it seems like the woman would be perfect but there's just something about her that would kill him. It's like Alice Cooper's "Poison." | |
| After Forever – Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it's a little deeper than that. She says "You know I am beyond reach forever." The mere fact that the dead girl is singing shows this song has some sort of afterlife theme. One of them must have done something so that they can't be reunited after he dies, most likely she killed herself, because she says she feels the same tormenting pain and she has paid enough, giving her character a feel of depression. | |
| Theatre of Tragedy – Cassandra Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| She was also the one that said "Beware of the Ides of March" in Julius Caesar. | |
| After Forever – Life's Vortex Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is the daughter's final words on her life. She is warning everyone that the way to are raised will affect you in the future. She says that no matter what she does there is no way she can break from the circle of abuse that was ingrained in her. | |
| After Forever – Reflections Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I believe the daughter in this song is realizing how closed off she is from everyone else and sees how she is repeating the way she was treated. She decides to confront her parents and face her reality. | |
| After Forever – Victim Of Choices Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I believe this song brings out that the child's mother has realized how much her lack of love has affected her life and her daughter's life and tries to warn her kid about how her lack of loving capabilities has ruined her life and could ruin hers, but the daughter won't listen because she can't trust her because she never loved her. | |
| After Forever – Through Square Eyes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Apparently the end of the story in Invisible Circles is that the kid ends up killing her parents. So the added message in this song to make it different from Digital Deceit is that her games are giving her violent tendencies and setting her up for the final act in this CD. | |
| Coldplay – 42 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I interpreted it as sort of a midlife crisis sort of thing. Someone's maybe in a job he doesn't like and the dead people in his head stand for the hopes and dreams he used to have in his youth. The middle rock part is when the guy tries to regain his youthful imagination and put his dreams into realization and it doesn't work, 'didn't get to heaven but you almost.' So he goes back to his boring life and his ghosts. 42 is his age. | |
| Coldplay – Violet Hill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
cont... "I took my love down to Violet Hill There we sat in snow All that time she was silent still" He's saying he fought for his country to demonstrate his patriotism and love and his country never appreciated it. She just sat silent. I believe the "all that time" refers to the "long and dark December". I think the snow represents the warfare. Someone earlier said residue or shrapnel from explosions that was raining down on him, which makes sense. |
|
| Coldplay – Violet Hill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think the song is about a soldier that was injured and is dying (December is sometimes used to signify the end of someone's life). He's annoyed at the government for putting him in a war and causing him to give up his life because as he dies he thinks about things and realizes all the hypocrisies in his society that he was fighting to protect. The "If you love me won't you let me know?" is him asking the government to be grateful for his sacrifice because he feels like it was all for nothing. "If you love me why'd you let me go?" is him pointing out that if the politicians really loved the citizens they rule over, they wouldn't put their political conquests ahead of their citizens' lives by forcing them into a war. |

| After Forever – Transitory Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| As painful as life can be sometimes, it's worth it to hold on since it's all temporary. | |
| After Forever – Who I Am Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think they are both playing pretend for attention, but one is more willing than the other, since at the end Floor say she doesn't want to push because that's not who she is. | |
| After Forever – Envision Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| You have to imagine what a person in pain is going through to empathize with them, but it's impossible to truly know what they're feeling. | |
| After Forever – Cry with a Smile Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Someone dear died on the same day that something good happened. | |
| After Forever – Equally Destructive Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| People cause just as much damage as natural disasters. The cause of the sick condition of the world is not God, but mankind. | |
| After Forever – Energize Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The key to making the world a better place is kindness. One simple act of kindness can motivate (or energize) a person to a better person. | |
| After Forever – Dreamflight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
To me it seems like someone is stuck in a really long, scary dream, like maybe in a coma, and just wants to wake up but the dream won't let them. To reemphasize, it's a really bad dream. |
|
| Lacuna Coil – Aeon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I wish this song was 10 minutes long. It's her best vocal work ever. It seems to me like she is having feelings for someone that she doesn't want to admit to. | |
| Within Temptation – Forgiven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I knew it. I knew it sounded like a parent had lost a child. | |
| Epica – Chasing The Dragon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It sounds to me like she's trying to ensure someone that her drug addiction won't affect anything in her mind badly. Nothing will be forever gone Memories will stay |
