I believe this song brings out that the child's mother has realized how much her lack of love has affected her life and her daughter's life and tries to warn her kid about how her lack of loving capabilities has ruined her life and could ruin hers, but the daughter won't listen because she can't trust her because she never loved her.
It's still a part of the concept. The girl spies on her parents as they get a visit from the mother of the father, child's grandmother.
