| Damien Rice – 9 Crimes Lyrics

Oh forgot to put what I thought this song means. Well, obviously, it's about cheating on another, and having done it repeatedly (9 crimes). And I agree with what another person said, sounds like the "gun" is a phallic symbol, either that or it's symbolic for the heart (purely emotional cheating), but I really do think it's the former. |

This song is amazing, and fun too. Silverchair have moved past grunge, they did a long time ago and people should just let it go as well, they'll never be that way again. I think Daniel's songwriting has gotten more amazing with each new album, and I hope it continues to be that way. |

GrungyBeatle, it doesn't make sense that in all the verses and in the chorus it sounds like she's speaking to someone, saying "you this" and "you that" "let's do this" etc but then when it comes to the "You see, my old man's got a problem" verse, that she'ss suddenly just speaking about someone...it doesn't sound like she's calling a lover an her old man or anything like that, not at all. So YES it can be about a lover. |

This song, when released by her new major record label, will hit it bigger beyond youtube.com I bet. The melody and her voice is wonderful, that's what makes this song what it is. |

| Rasputina – The Mayor Lyrics

Did a little looking on wikipedia and found this:
According to Creager, many people assume the song "The Mayor" is about George W. Bush. It is about a mentally ill friend of Creager's.
Still fits the whole george bush thing, eh |

Not to mention the fact that she was (is?) a strong supporter of Kerry during the last election, with having a benifit show for him and all or whatever it was. |

stentorian: She said she found it ironic people thought it was about Bush when it is about a retarded person. I guess it is in fact about Bush.
That even further makes me think that it's indeed about Bush; Melora seems to have a weird sense of humor (which I like), and people who've been to Rasputina show's know what I'm talking about. I totally don't believe it when she said it wasn't about lil ole G. W. (or at least some sort of political figure). The lyrics make sense perfectly, every. single. line.
and these lines make me think so for sure:
Oh, I'm quite tired of this lunatic.
Why must we suffer cuz the mayor's sick?
He say: "All abandon from this sinking ship".
Then he's off on another trip.
He don't care about environment.
He has made this a shitty place.
My interest rate shrinks at a rapid pace
Compounded daily on my worried face. |

| Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics

I found this on the a forum, and I believe it because I actually heard this a long time ago but forgot it until I just read it again: (ps. I didn't make every word capitalized, yeah, I know it's annoying)
Caller: Hi. I Was Just Really Wondering What Inspired You To Write The Song "my Immortal" Because It's Helped Me Through Rough Times And A Bad Death In The Family Recently. What Inspired You To Write It?
Amy: Thank You So Much, And I'm Sorry. I Have Been Through An Experience Like That Myself When I Was A Very Young Girl, But That's Not What That Song Is About Actually. It Is The One Song That Was Ben's. Ch He Wrote It When He Was Very Young, Wrote Basically The Whole Song By Himself. I Hate To Tell You This: Ben Kind Of Doesn't Write From Self-experience. It's Sort Of A Hypothetical, But The Vibe Of It And The Vibe That I Relate To And What I Can Take From It With My Similar Experience Is It's When You Feel Like You've Dwelled On Someone That's Gone For Way Too Long And You Feel Almost Haunted By The Memory And It's When You're At The Point You're Not Wishing They Were Back Anymore But Asking For The Presence To Leave You, Which Is Kind Of A Scary Thing But At The Same Time It's About Where You're To Be Released And Set Free, So It's Beautiful, Too. |

I can't help it that when I read the lyrics, it makes me think of bad angsty goth poetry "woe is me, blah blah blah, I stab my head in my danky doomy darkness, yadda yadda." The lyrics are just cliche and cheesy, could've been much better. The music itself (including vocals) are good though. |

Really wouldn't mind if Evanescence did exactly what their name means: "the event of fading and gradually vanishing from sight." |

"I only apologized to you to make you feel better but I think I’ve outgrown that horsehair sweater."
I think it means, that he's grown out of apologizing and dealing with the bull**** of what's going on between the two people (fighting, etc, whatever), of with how uncomfortable everything has become...not speaking *directly* of the relationship itself |

I absolutely love this song, but especially where it transitions with his voice at "and then like a locamotive, the sound of your sorrow comes." I can definitely relate to this song to a T, but me I would be the one on the flipside (the person being sung about), whereas it would be as if my ex-boyfriend were the one with the perspective of the lyrics (we plan on giving it a go again when both of us can work our own problems out). I really don't think this song is about "sticking it" to anyone, more just showing the sorrow from a relationship gone bad when a significant other's problems overtake their relationship and saying "enough is enough, i can't take it anymore." What makes me think this is more along these lines is the part that goes "you'd fly, you'd soar..and then like locamotive, the sound of your sorrow comes" |

Phrogex, Sour is not on a cd, it's only on tape. It was never released on Cd. Don't fail to mention to people they can easily get downloads of it off the net, the leader of this band encourages it, share the love.
This is the first Ours song I heard, was watching Mtv and saw the video whenever it was released...went out, bought the album, fell in love with it, one of my most favorite bands. Oh, and they're also an awesome live band, even people who aren't fans and didn't care too much for the albums will convert after seeing a show, I've seen it. |

Yes, this song's lyrics are simplistic, but that does not mean it's a bad song...the lyrics are not shallow. I love this song, the melody is wonderful. This song is beautiful and it's raw and direct, like someone laying their heart out and being vunerable to another person. I actually find it kind of hard for me to listen to this song plus a few others on the album because I can strongly relate to them, I am going through an extremely confusing and rough time right now with the person I love. |
