That's funny that you mention "Gatsby"- the line about 'swimming in a fountain' reminds me of a famous anecdote about F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald swimming in fountains after they got drunk. I'm impressed- everyone has posted some really great ideas. The two other lines that stick with me are the one about 'telling you miserable things after you're asleep,' (which rings absolutely true to anyone who has ever been in a tedious relationship) and, of course:
"Cause IIIIIII'm e-vil"
So brutally honest. So bad ass. |

Does anyone know what the mysterious woman's voice at the end of this song is saying? I'm not sure if anyone has asked this question yet. It sort of sounds like "tonic and all the glitter," but it is very brief. I have owned this album for years and have never noticed it. Regardless of what it means, it's creepy and awesome and makes me have a whole new appreciation for the band. They loved the 90's enough to revive the secret voice track. |

We're missing some lyrics here. After "I think I lent you late," it's "Now every set percent seem to come my way." Secondly, this is probably a better time than any to state that the breeders can do absolutely no wrong. Every musical error, weird lyric, every giggle, every beer cracked or cigarette smoke during a song is simply amazing and essential. |

The synth parts in this song really remind me of the soundtrack from "Sid and Nancy" for some reason. I'm so glad I found this song! It's a lot different from everything else in their catalogue- very intense, and the lyrics are almost like something from Pink Floyd's "The Wall" |
