In the songbook the U's are capitalized (Yes, they say U instead of You cuz they're koo like that). Evidence enough? Maybe not but they play at churches and they have a thingy thanking Jesus in their sleeve thingy so I think they're christian, which probably means most of their songs are. They have secular stuff about girls but I don't think this is one of them. |

Rusty, it says "What does this song mean to you?" If your background affects the way you see the song, it might be useful to have it posted; You can look at each comment and see how different groups view the song. It's not that big of a deal.
I don't think this is a secular band, actually. I think they are Christian but they are trying not to be obtrusive about it, which can be good or bad. I would actually respect them a lot more if they would come out and say they were christian instead of leaving "hints" in the lyrics. But they are quite wonderful, and I think this song is a praise song. It's about going back to God. "Take it or leave it, it's only a matter of life or death". "it" is God, or perhaps "salvation" or "Jesus", it doesn't really matter which one, it's the same concept. You can't really do it without God. You can try but the best you can do is "hold it all together". It's not really living. |

Well, there's no specific evidence in this particular song that it is about God (With the corrected lyrics), other than that it WORKS as a christian song, but other songs by this band lead me to believe that they are, in fact, a Christian band, which greatly increases the probability that this song is to God. I mean, it could theoretically be about the female in this guy's life, but I don't think it is. "until the whole world will dance with me" probably means that he wants the rest of the world to fall in love in this way as well, which either means he wants everyone to know what it's like to fall in love (in a secular sense) or that he wants everyone to have that relationship with God. It's a song about love, regardless. And I know that when I sing it, I'm not thinking about a guy, I'm singing to God. |

I think it's about how he thought he was in control and his life was beautiful, but it turns out he couldn't do it alone, that he needed God. I mean: it's a hope where there's no chance of a hope in the world that I'm hoping for. "The world that I'm hoping for" is heaven. He's saying he can't do it alone, because he tried and it just all fell apart. Sorry if I repeated myself at all. |

If the song is TO God, then "provoking the anger of a jealous God" doesn't make any sense. God is provoking his own anger? No, The devil provokes God's anger by tricking people into sin. "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" refers to the Devil trying to be God. And The communion wafers aren't sugar-coated, so that play on words wouldn't really make sense. It's just refering to how everyone falls for temptation. And the "cheap shots" is another reference to this. It's all about how sin is disguised as pleasure in order to trip us up, but now he knows the truth. Sorry, guys, this isn't a God-hater song. |
