Fuck your transphobia. Against Me! are still good and I appreciate them enough to be happy for Laura and her transition. I don't think Bryan singing a song from a woman's perspective means he's trans but if it does, more power to her. |

I'm pretty sure it's about being incarcerated in a psych ward and strapped to the bed for more than a few hours. Assuming he could move his hand enough to do so, he scratched his accidents into the wall. |

Transgender person. Transgender is an adjective. I agree though, it's really interesting that somebody else had this thought. I don't think he was really writing about trans people, but I like that interpretation. |

What makes no fucking sense about this song is:
The comments of Internet people and journalists alike who discuss Laura and her transition and say ridiculous things such as, "He is a woman now!" No. SHE is a woman. Laura Jane Grace, the woman who wrote this song, is a woman and I don't know why anyone would refer to her in any other way. |

No idea what types of shit these guys have gotten into, but this song personally reminds me of smoking speed. Devil references. "Stand up and be counted if you can't live without it." I doubt it, but that's what's always struck me. |

I think this song is about a guy who's in love with this girl, has probably dated her before and they've broken up, because of something he fucked up, something he did to her, or at least something she blames him for and he believes it. He feels extremely inferior to her ("probably not impressing you with my cheap tricks") but simultaneously feels resentful of it, and wants "revenge" in a sense. The song also seems to allude to rape, which would sort of add up if he feels horribly inferior but is also in love/lust with her and wants some kind of revenge. |

I think this song is a lot less random and meaningless than most of you guys do, imo. I agree with Zamrod that it's social commentary, but I think there's more specific meanings than that.
The first verse seems to be about racism, and the typical teenage superficiality of romance. "I like you because of your image" But I think the speaker is being sarcastic, he is looking at/talking to an attractive, but racist person, and feeling angry and violent, "I have a match; your face, you want to box me?"and he knows that he could argue his non-racist beliefs with this person "My asking you questions you can't answer"
The next part, about the facial hair I think is also about racism. I think the beard symbolizes minorities, possibly specifically Arabs and Mexicans, and I think the mustache symbolizes Hitler, who the speaker finds scarier than these minorities.
The verse about dogs is comparing them to people, and how they are dogs, they are not intelligent as people are, but they don't kill each other over politics and religion and land.
Next verse is about sex and religion, imo. And the last verse, I think is about religion, but also more generally about how everyone percieves things differently, even things that are "facts". And I think that makes the title of the song very ironic, if they are saying that noone really knows anything, they only have a perspective of it, which I believe is true. |

Pretty sure it's another cliched teenage anthem of growing up and its trials and tribulations.
And it's fucking awesome. I saw these guys live. It was amazing. |

You know if you actually look up all the big words, they don't seem so big anymore...
Fighting ignorance one 8-syllabled word at a time...go Bad Religion!
I agree with gofuckyourself. "Do what you want, but don't do it around me" Sounds like someone who doesn't know/care about what the country is doing, because they believe it doesn't affect them. I think that's what the entire song is about. The chorus is saying that the person doesn't care if others want to protest the current government or social situation, because they believe it's pointless and will only harm the person doing the protesting ("Break all the fucking rules, and go to hell with Superman and die like a champion yeah hey!") |

"Questionless people do you
Think you can think any less?"
Such a great line. Question authority, or society will become even more divided and corrupt than it is now. |
