If some bands want to put a bit more emotion in the theme of love, being sad, whatever. its there choice. and if done properly, almost anyone can relate to it. it doesnt mean that people want to kill themselves. if you took every song as the band members wanting to do the lyrics, where the fuck would girlfriend - avril lavigne get you? shes married. thats just an example. songs show their meanings through metaphores often. and by "emo" music talking about death they just mean extreme emotional pain, not the fact they want to kill themselves. which is why just about no one who listens to "emo" slits there wrists. its just emotions. if you have a problem with someone relating their emotions into music, you shouldnt listen to ANY music. as every song shows some emotion. everyone shows emotion. and if "emo" music wants to put a LOT of emotion into music, so be it. it doesnt mean anyone whos listened to it is going to cut their wrists and commit suicide. it doesnt mean everyone who listens to it dyes their hair black, wears girls pants and thick eyeliner. it doesnt mean we take these lyrics literally, the parts where its extremely emotional anyway. you seem to be the only one here who needs to take the lyrics literally, which i find really pittyful. grow up :) |

To personally attack them like that is so harsh, it's really sad that you are so conceited, even in your last post, saying that the russian roulette explanation was uneeded. How the fuck is it? and how is it your job to decide what is uneeded, wrong or right? songs dont always have one meaning, its left to the listener to interpret them often. I think the russian roulette explanation was really handy, coz i had no idea what it was, i knew it was something to do with guns and a chance of dying, and im sure many other listeners had the same view. good job uhyea1234 and xxcallitkarmaxx, it's awesome that you guys are so eager to share your views on the song. and by the way, they were right in saying articulating, as they were saying its hard for them to explain stuff sometimes and put them into words. evaluating is what they had already done, by working out what they thought the song was saying, and articulating it in their own words was what they had a problem with, which is posting the comment on here to express what they thought of the song. transferring it from their own thoughts to words that readers here could understand. sheesh, what a waste of 5 minutes. please get over yourself. |

i love this song. it does annoy me its christian though; im not really religious well not at all. so i just like to think of it as regretting sexual activitys, when your emotions let you go too far, and you feel sort of emotional raw and dead from it. like im sure a lot of us have experienced. and sort of ignore the god part, but im not against underoaths christian side.. and yep : ) fave line "slit your wrists for sleeping with the girl next door" |

well i actually agree with the first post. and im so glad ive read some of these posts nirvana used to sort of piss me off, as the nevermind album brought alternative styled music into mainstream circles and was really the first alternative album that got steady mainstream radio play, before that it was reserved to alternative college stations, and this album also inspired a lot of copycat bands and alternative bands to sprout into mainstream, really selling it out in a way. but if the first post is true, and also if kurt hated the fame, i feel a lot different about this song. |

guys thats all pretty good and yourdramastory, good take on it. but, it seems you all only focused on the first part about the acrobat. the second part about the ciggarette, leads me to think that its not about what yourdramastory said. if it was, the whole song would need to be about an acrobat. sorry if you guys think im wrong.. but i think maybe its about someone who thinks so little of themselves. thinking about being an acrobat, being thrown on top of the world, being amazing, flying, being beautiful, the object of attention. thinking of being a cigarette, smoked by a picturesque girl. being special in a way, you're in a classic scene, a scene that is so classic it has a sense of beauty to it. then its backed up by the do you still wish you were beautiful? as in after thinking of yourself like that, do you still disagree you're not beautiful and not see the beauty inside you? and then the coz you will always be beautiful, is saying you're wrong if you dont think that. you are beautiful. and the acrobat and smoking lines, is to me representing thinking of yourself in a dfferent way, having confidence. like the old lines about if you're scared, think of yourself as being home safe in a warm bed. or if you're feeling like a loser, think of yourself as a brick wall. i think its saying that. sorry if that didnt make sense, but thats my take on it. |

this song is amazing. honestly, i think everyone can relate to it. im only 13, but a majour fan of saetia. their lyrics are amazing. the way they can twist their screams and voices, and they could kill anyone in instrumental play. interpretation?: lost gray pictures of my past stain greener pastures of my future the things that have happened in the past haunt the future. he's continuously thinking of what he lost, what happened in the past, and its ruining chances of future happiness, or "greener pastures" rememberance and recognition forces me to reconsider no matter what he does, he can still remember past mistakes, its making him reconsider himself, as a person even, because of the mistakes he made in the past. I am seeking to regress and recreating what I've found he wants to get over the past, create a new bright future. a new beginning torn away something happens, he loses the chance of a fresh future. I'm spiraling spiraling down he's getting depressed again. hes little hopes fading of a better future, spirally down. empty hands on the ends of these reaching arms need the touch of something real the empty nothing he has needs something. he's desperate for something, reaching out for something, he needs something real, a relatioship, a friend. happiness. year by year we seperate further as time passes, he seperates from the memorys of friends, happiness, its becoming more in the past. we are forgetting how to feel no happiness, he's forggeting what its like to be happy, to have something. he's forgetting what its like to feel. for at the end of this long rope I hang in wait of fading echos he's trapped in the past, hoping the good times would come back. the echoes of the past. uncertainty haunts my everything he's lost so much he's unsure of himself. everything he does has a sense of uncertainty, is haunted by it. I look into tomorrow and I see nothing... he is hopeless of the future being good. so tell me how it feels to be me I've lost so much I cannot recall my identity he's lost so much, he's lost himself. I would die for yesterday not caring where I need to go he wants to go back to the past, when he had a world of oportunitys, he was accepted. reshape relationships back into what I used to know ^^ straightforward tomorrow is so far and I no longer want to find a replacement for all these pictures that are lost in my mind the future seems to far away, he feels liike he'll be trapped in this depression for too long. he's given up on fiding a better future. |
