Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division cover) Lyrics
When the routine bites hard
and ambitions are low
And the resentment rides high
but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways,
taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart
again [x4]
Why is the bedroom so cold
Turned away on your side?
Is my timing that flawed,
our respect run so dry?
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through
our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again [x4]
Do you cry out in your sleep
All my failings expose?
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good
Just can't function no more?
When love
and ambitions are low
And the resentment rides high
but emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways,
taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart
again [x4]
Turned away on your side?
Is my timing that flawed,
our respect run so dry?
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through
our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again [x4]
All my failings expose?
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good
Just can't function no more?
When love

this is the worst cover i have ever heard.
the original is awesome, so much real emotion, so much longing. perfect. It's not a fast song, but the way the riff hits is awesome. I like this version a lot, but it's pretty hard to improve on perfection ;) The two versions are pretty different, so might not ruin it! The original is frequently voted as one of the best songs of all time, it's something you need to hear!
worst cover in HISTORY! this is truly a terrible tribute to the amazing joy division.
Holy fuck, how can that pussy excuse for a cover be anything over the original!! I love the original, no one can do better, but FOB murdered it personally. I don't like FOB.
haha anyone who thinks joy division sucks asshole, is clearly the asshole. You can't compare the two versions, but I always love Patrick's voice.
probably one of the best songs for patricks voice.. i mean his voice is amazing on this cover..i havent heard the joy divsion one, but i think that this one shows the emotion of the words
someday, I'm going to make a CD of the worst covers EVER, and this one is going right between The Used and MCR's cover of Under Pressure and Orgy's cover of Blue Monday. PUKE.
wtf dude.
justmegger says...

so you have't heard the original, yet you are comparing how patrick shows his emotion in the words, opposed to how Ian Curtis shows his emotion in the words. Ian being the original song writer from the amazing band Joy Division, i think shows his emotions, not Patrick who does not own the words to this song. sorry justmegger, but that aggravated me. go listen to the original and you will clearly hear the emotion in Ian Curtis, i promise. oh yeah, and to all you other fruitcakes, Fall Out Boy is a good pop-punk band, but they are definatley not worthy of creating an attempt to cover a classic song by an amazing band. and to think that hearing the original will ruin the song???!!! are you crazy??? you can't say that about listening to covers. Hearing the original should only make you appreciate the song more. whateva.
Ok, for starters, the only people capable of liking this song would be the Fall Out Boy teenies, you know, the ones that are like: "OMG PATRICK IZ SOOOOO CUTE!!!!111!!!1" Patrick sounds as though he's trying to mimic Ian Curtis' voice, and fails miserably at it. In short: Fall Out Boy do shit covers. This song being one of the worst covers ever. Oh, and anyone who thinks the original, which is, in my opinion, by the greatest band ever, "sux ass hole", is a fucking moron.
"but the fact that the guy who sings it sounds like hes on dying"
Possibly the only reason this song was ever a hit for Joy Division is because their lead singer, Ian Curtis killed himself shortly before their first american tour.
FOB manadged to take a song sang in utter depression by a band that never was big in their time and turn it into another fucking way of making themselves look like they are "emotional" . This hardly a tribute to Joy Division, as its coming from a "punk" band who cites Guns and Roses as their influence. This is just as bad as Hilary Duff's "My Generation" and Limp Bizkit's "Behind Blue Eyes" covers. You people are idiots for even liking this. then again, i dont think Ian Curtis was "hawtt" enough for any of you to even listen to Joy Division. Hell, I'd think Pete Hook would be pissed for ruining his stunning bass line.
