"As a couple jumps hand in hand to their death."
I remember seeing that in a video of the 9/11 WTC attack. |

Beautiful song. I read something about the singer's mother being diagnosed with cancer and so that may have to do with this song. |

This song is about religion obviously as you can see from the title, referring to the quote by Karl Marx. But I think they may be seeing his quote the wrong way. "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." This kinda tells me religion has some good, "heart of a heartless world". |

How about it's probably about the book of Revelations. The song itself doesn't show a stance at all about the Vietnam War if it was even about it. "200 Million guns loaded" is referencing to the 200 million man army there will be in the last days. It's right out of Revelations. |

This song makes me think when there will be a persecution of Christians, and one of their friends turning their back on them and Christianity to save themselves. That's just what comes to mind for me, I don't really know the meaning. |

I think it's kinda about what metal-n-roll said, but they are turning their back on embracing Jesus. When he's saying "The day is soon coming when turning your back won’t be an option," means the last day when the Day of Judgement is at hand then it will be too late. |

I think he's talking about how people's faith or church may be collapsing because people come to church and just go to sleep, never pay attention or listen to lies. I may be wrong, but anyways good song, love the bells tolling 2 minutes into the song. |

When he's talking about possessions, it remindes me when Jesus told the one rich man to sell all his things and follow him to get into Heaven. This may be referencing to that. |

It sounds like he's talkin' about people who cut themselves to deal with life. Or it could be used as a metaphor in this song, I'm not sure. |

Best song I have heard from August Burns Red. I think it's along the lines that it's saying we are forced to accept the new unchristian things in society and we no longer say no as the one line says : "We’ve cut the tongue from society, forcing consumption, never hearing “no.”" |

Actually this is what most he says, it includes the children crying in the tape also.
"...because we are not committing suicide; it's a revolutionary act."
"Let's get gone. Let's get gone. Let's get gone.(Children crying.) We had nothing we could do. We can't--we can't separate ourselves from our own people."
"It's not to be afeared. It is not to be feared. It is a friend. It's a friend ..."
"Let's be done with the agony of it. It's far, far harder to have to walk through every day, die slowly--and from the time you're a child 'til the time you get gray, you're dying."
"Aw, God Almighty, God. Huh?"
That is all I could find out, some of it I couldn't understand. |

Yes, the voice in the background is the tape from Jonetown. It says:
"Please. For God's sake, let's get on with it. We've lived--we've lived as no other people lived and loved. We've had as much of this world as you're gonna get. Let's just be done with it. Let's be done with the agony of it. (Applause.)
It's far, far harder to have to walk through every day, die slowly--and from the time you're a child 'til the time you get gray, you're dying. "
