i love trying to find hidden meanings in songs. that being said, one good hidden meaning in this song is a woman that wants a sex change. hear me out... Place these fingers over the holes in your flesh (finger in the snatch) But you'll never find the pieces that you lack (a penis) Searching nameless city streets and abandoned hearts for your salvation. Nothing will save you here (trying to find a doctor that will preform sex change) We'll be the ones to break this mold (mold being the woman's form) You've spent way too long to get this wrong (spent too long thinking about the operation) Your perception and your walls between everything (perception of being 'a man in a woman's body) Catch your breath, you'll make amends (dont stress, the sex change will come) You'll be free at last (finally be a man) i don't actually believe that thats what the song is about, but its just funny to think about it. awesome song though, one of the best off of lividity. |

waldemar, what the fuck is wrong with you. thats all i have to say. as for the song, i think it is about religion. i think its about someone who "knows" that it is false and is trying to prove it to some one who is deeply rooted in it in order to "save" them. as for my use of quotes. this is MY IDEA, this is not what the song is actually about, this is my interpretation. this forum is full of people bitching about peoples interpretations as if there fact... there not. lighten up. Further is a master peace. i think it has a lot to do with transcendentalism. the first thing i thought when i found this song was the transcendentalist ideal that we are all the same thing, and everything in the universe is the same as us so when we die we all become one again. kind of a love song with eternity. ...thats my interpretation. all of vnv's lyrics are amazing, full of emotion and depth. (i cant wait for the new album) |

i think this song is about how ignorant we are in destroying ourselves. i always thought the sirens part was about the sirens on ambulances and firetrucks as in the world was falling apart and "dancing" was all of us not caring and not trying to fix anything. now i agree with BanjoRabit, he has a good point and i think thats an amazing connection. |
