Eels – Last Stop: This Town Lyrics 16 years ago
There is a live version on youtube where the first line of the chorus is sung by the bassist, and the second line is by the drummer, the magnificent (and sadly missed) Butch.

'Cause they don't know how to let you in
and I can't let you out...

...is a great line and it could well be about suburban isolation. But overall, the live dearly bereft person trying to fly away with the dead person because life is too lonely and sad without them sums it up to me.

The Felice Brothers – Take This Bread Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the chorus lyric is "if you need it friend".
Also "the cops caught him in the guts" makes a lot more sense.

Sigur Rós – Illgresi Lyrics 17 years ago
For those that can't be bothered following the link:
You sleep till noon
You die but come to life
The leaves change their colors

You ache - get up and dress
In a raincoat - you keep going into the bleak days

You tear out heart-roots that you stamp on
With your hands in your pockets, been through enough
Walking in wet grass until

It shines on me through the branches
I look up and revive - the leaves change their colors

We find our goals, put down roots
Undress and our hearts
We go out into a good day

We plant and we give life and we blossom
With our hands out of the pockets in earth you delve
Now we remove ugly thoughts

Time heals all, gives life, kindles fires
Burns souls
No longer cold, alive again
My soul comes to life, paints the world

A(nother) lovely song.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Breathless Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree is a love song, but to me it's about God and creation, rather than a boy/girl thing. Hence, 'breathless' is both the breathlessness brought about by being in love and a literal lack of breath.
Fav bit is the "juddering bones" - nice.
