This is one of my favorite parts of the musical. It questions how people can have such negative intent- both killing fellow man and the earth. The lyrics- "How dare they try to end this beauty?" stand out most. After seeing Hair performed, that was one of the lines that stuck out and stood in my mind. The line seems to summarize the horrors of some human tendencies(war, destruction, etc.), the importance of war-resistance, and the fact that we live on a wonder in itself. That sounds a bit more pretentious than I intended, but oh well... This song is amazing. |

this song... it's haunting. i love it, but, wow, it's so powerful and heartful. i'm listening to it right now, and wow, theyre amazing. it gives me chills everytme. one of my favorite lines is, 'there's no diversity cause were burning in the melting pot.' and for somne reason, i love the part with the, 'i've fallen and i cant turn back.' it adds something extra. like, i dont know. but this song is amazing. |

i think this song kind of sums up all their relationships from the beginning up to when angel died. for instance, at the beginning of the song everyone is cooperative, i'm not sure if that is the right word, well, at thebeginning everyone is 'getting along well' and after angel's solo [which i kinda think signifies her death] everyone is leaving and breaking up. that's how i take this song, lots of people i know always say it's so offtrack from the play and unneeded, but i think it was a creative metaphor-y way to display the change in reltionships. |

this song is so emotional in the play. i mean, it is on it's own, but in the play it follows the scene in which jon learns his best friend, michael, is HIV+. it means so much to me because, the whole play jon is going through a crisis of being thirty and having accomplished nothing he had wanted to. jon is sourrounded by people 'selling out', but the big debate is what is selling out and what is excepting defeat. in this scene/song he realizes michael's choices were justified with his new found disease, and jon is figuring out what is truely important to him. |
