Eric Clapton – Next Time You See Her Lyrics 17 years ago
I like this song a lot, but it makes me think what a jerk Eric Clapton is.

Derek and the Dominos – Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad? Lyrics 17 years ago
Written by J.J. Cale, this song may be following the tradition of classic blues. The subject may very well be masturbation, sex or any other raw theme often found in early traditional blues.

David Bowie – Life on Mars? Lyrics 19 years ago
I actually believe that the girl wasn't just "thrown out of home". She spends too much time at home, disillusioned, her parents worry and insist she goes out more, dates. She can't find her date and goes to a movie alone. There she sees the same shit she's fed on TV on a daily basis. Life sucks, folks.

The song is about disenchantment and the general feeling of despair among the youth. British youth of that time? The "Life on mars" line is to connect better to the audience, since interplanetary flights were a great media sensation at the time the song was written. Also, it is there to underline the disenchantment: "Who the f$ck care about life on Mars if my own life sucks?" or better "Now, when I see that life is such shit in general for everyone, all I have left to do is to think whether there is life on Mars and follow news to entertain myself".

The chorus is just nonsensical rubbish you're fed on TV.

David Bowie – Oh! You Pretty Things Lyrics 19 years ago
one of the greatest pop/rock songs of all time

the uberhuman theory is totally correct. i don't know if bowie's a fan of nitsche, but he's an arrogant man, according to personal account. also, don't forget that even nazis thought of the english as their racial peers, racially supreme to all of the rest of europe, if you look a bit at the geopolitical context.

now, bowie really thought he was supreme to everybody - talent, looks, stardom. is he homosexual? i dont think he's even bisexual. all this homosexual pretense comes from the fact that he felt he was different, and there was a mark of superiority attached to homosexuality. there are so many creative personalities among them, they burst with pride for their kin. bowie exploited this unconsciously to prop his belief in that he was different/superior.

that's what it is about, in short.
