Conor Oberst – White Shoes Lyrics 17 years ago
"You can paint your nails lime green
Rent yourself a limousine
Kidnap the professors niece
Tell 'em that she's dead
We'll party in a hotel room
Anything you wanna do
Sister, anything you wanna do"

New words to live by.

Cursive – Sierra Lyrics 19 years ago
I think the lyrics make pretty obvious what the song it about. It tells a story. That's the thing though, I've always thought it was a story. I didn't know Tim had kids

Cursive – Sucker and Dry Lyrics 19 years ago
i know that this song is about lovers and all (i really do think that's what its about) but, i was just listening to it, and it reminds me a lot of what my life is like living with an alcohlic mother. especially the lines, "meanwhile, I'll stay imprisoned by your mistakes. persistance is the anchor that'll drown me."

The Doors – Ghost Song Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, Jim did say that about the indians, but i dont believe he really saw them, in fact almost none of the biographers do. It's something that came to his mind and a kid, and he just couldn't get it out. I read somewhere that some people think that when he made this up or it came to his mind, he was thinking about it so much that he actually began to believe that he's seen them, I would believe that more. But, anyway, I think the first part of the song is more about weird dreams, and drugs and stuff, and obviously the last part is recalling the indians.

Bright Eyes – Black Comedy Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about life. Like is the comedy so dry and black, it makes his stomach hurt so bad, and he cries. It's like, well life sucks, we know that, but we're got to make the best of it.

"two thumbs up we give this one despite it's predictable ending." that reminds me of something Jim Morrison once said about the cosmic movie. it was something like, "when you die you've gotta watch your whole life flashing before your eyes, internally, forever, so you better have some good incidents in there, and a fitting climax."

hmmmm....so maybe it is about death. I don't know why that reminded me of that, it just came to me head.

Cursive – Retreat! Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought he was talking about things in general that only make other things worse. Like this line, "The natives are whipping each other over which God they prefer" sort of resembled all the wars started over religion. I thought it was supposed to be God that was away on Holiday, not a priest. It osrt of made me think about how I fell sometimes, if there was ever any type of God, wouldn't the world be a better place or something? So it's like, if God's left us, then he mind as well stay gone.

Desaparecidos – Manana Lyrics 19 years ago
Yes. I agree, the song is awesome.

The Saddle Creekers (you know what I mean) met Mike Mogis when Robb Nansel shared a dorm with him in college at UNL. He and his brother AJ helped them basically get the label started what with helping record and everything. That was back in the days on Commander Venus and such. After A Collection of Songs Written And Recorded 1995-1998, Mike offered to help Conor do some more of his great recording on his 8 track, instead of the 4 track, thus, Letting Off The Happiness Was Born. For their economics class in college, Robb and Mike, officially put together Saddle Creek label for their final projet, making it an official business. So, in truth, Mike Mogis part 'owns' the label along with Robb, and I think all the bands on Saddle Creek take a big part in 'owning' it. I mean, it was Water, by Conor, that was first realeased, with the help of Ted Stevens, when Mike Mogis wasn't even in the picture.

Anyway, yeah, so that's who Mike Mogis is. He IS a really nice guy (not that I've ever met him)

Oh, and like I said before, the song is great. Love Conor's voice!

Bright Eyes – Amy in the White Coat Lyrics 19 years ago
This is absoulutley me favorite Bright Eyes song ever. No, it's my favorite Conor song ever. It's just the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

(i don't know if this was pointed out before, but the lyrics aren't "with the sunbeams bright," it, "with the sun you rise.")

This song literally takes my breath away every time I hear it.

Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, I've always thought the song was just about loving each other. As simple as that. I mean, one of the main themes of Lifted is "to love and to be loved." but I've just always felt that the way conor describes how he holds the doctors' hand, and then he's cured, well, i just always thought it was a message. We need to love each other, all of us, and look out for each other and the world could be a much better place.

CONOR'S # 1 fan forever!
