It's quite obvious that this song is about Peter being 'kicked out' of the Libertines, and his bitterness toward Carl and McGee, making Barat seem almost hypocritical : "I'm welcome back if I give up crack, but you gave me my first pipe anyway" Beaut of a song, I love the verse that goes 'She was getting pally with a scally in the alley' but I'm not too sure of the meaning on that one. I don't know if it's a Kate Moss reference? Does anybody know?? ', well i showed no decorum, span my heart out on the forum, ;ooked just like a snapshot of the most tragic day' - beautiful. favourite lyric of all time? i also love 'the wall scrapings get snorted,' it makes me smile :) |

i'm pretty sure its south sect. because jamie is from the south of england? also i reckon its 'after about ten dear minutes' because it sounds about right and on other songs he also says 'dear' in random sentences such as 'The doctor said he couldn't get the heart dear started' from Sheila. This is one of my favourite songs on Panic Prevention, well worth a listen, i love the simplicity of the guitar and the lyrics :) xxx |

everyone else pretty much nailed it. "more to life than trying to survive" shows that the girl, victoria, is such a fighter and puts all her strenghth into staying alive, and the storyteller in this case Vanessa, knows that there is so much more that a young child could do and feels that the child is inspirational. |

this is a different take on the song but i think it's about someone who's done something, which has changed their life and almost ruined it, but doesn't see what they did wrong (where did i go wrong) and lost a friend/love out of it. yeahh great song amazing voice from the singer. |
