one of my fav's from this album. i thought it was just about a particular female he appreciates in his life? i could definitely see how it could be about women's rights. or a mother? i could definitely see it being about a woman you admire in your life that's always been there for you, shown that she's resilient and strong in the face of adversity. |

i completely relate this song to a breakup i had. i don't know if that's exaclty what it's about, but i definitely felt like this person didn't feel i was any better than the other girls he had been with and we were never meant to be together. i really loved him and i lost so much hope in us and having future relationships. but anyway, i really like this song |

i love this song.
i think the lyrics are kindof in a sarcastic tone. he's explaining how people who lie ("speak with serpent tongues") will get what they deserve, suffer if you will. ("fall through the ice and drown") not only that, but he's explaining how this particular person doesn't get a second chance or forgiveness. this person keeps lying and it completely changes how he feels about them and who they are as a person ("destroy my opinion of you and your self worth with just one single word..no") |

I completely agree that this song is about the hardcore scene and about how all the lyrics are about their broken heart. ("fuck your broken heart") every album becomes about the same bullshit, about how some girl broke their heart and it hurts so bad, but bands need to progress ("where's the message? or the progress?") and i think he's saying that remembering never won't make another album like she looks so good in red with songs like alison's song, heartless, late night alone which have themes of heartbreak, suicide, depression. ("i will seperate the past from the past. i will not repeat the same mistakes as i used to") this song can completely be interpreted as a relationship though. about some girl wanting to make it work but he's done and refuses to make the same mistakes, how he doesn't care about her broken heart or whatever. that's the whole irony of it, but maybe that's what he was going for. |

it's possible that "product of my surroundings" means he's talking about himself in the first line, that he has no more love trust respect or loyalty for others because of what he sees around him every day or it could mean that there isn't anymore love, trust, respect or loyalty and soon he's going to become a product of that himself |

this always makes me cry. i don't even really listen to otep much anymore, but i definitely relate it to my broken childhood. and even now at 21, i'm still struggling to get over it, but i always listen to this song. i love how she says "i will not cry. i will not cry". this helps me get through to another day. |
