I agree with most other opinions, I interpreted the song somewhat like this; She is in love with a man [Mr. Blue], who is quite sad and has been for some time. She desperately wants to help him, and encourages him to feel better, but in the end there's really nothing she can do, and so decides she has to leave. |

I recently read an interview with Josh, and he was asked what Say Anything was about... he said that he really liked this girl, but she had a boyfriend, and he continued to be "the friend". He wanted to write a song about her, but couldn't very well write a love song- so he just took all the little dumb inside jokes they had and molded them into a catchy song (: How freaking cute is that? |

It's about Josh and his bulimia. Whether or not he still suffers from it I don't know, but at one point he was bulimic. If you read the lyrics to "Feeling Small", it's mentioned in there as well. I adore this song. |
