It is an honor to be the first to comment on this song. Now, it sounds like the Personal Jesus beat. I still love the moderate sex addicted lyrics to this song. Wow, I don't think there is a song that can better convey my feelings about my life right now. I loved this song when I was in high school and now at nearly 34, I finally feel the pain of the lost love.
"All her kindness lingers on" - Yes Chelesa everything that you ever said to me that was sweet and "stripety" I will never forget.
"She doesn't need him. Your day breaks, your mind aches. There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head, you won't forget her. It gives me great pleasure to be the 20th person to comment on the song that when I die, I want this song played at my funeral. This is the best song about LA and now that I live here, I can see it. Still it will always remind me of my home, San Francisco, but thank you Nikki for writing it and Vince for singing it. It is a shame that today's generation gives kudos to Carrie Underwear which sounds so bad, Im only happy that she gave money to the Crue for performing it. Don't get me wrong, I would rather look at her than Vince but then again so would Vince. Long live the Crue!!!

Just converted my album to an mp3 and the original Rio version (of that whole album) is better than all other short versions even though John has added more bass lines. It's slow and Andy's guitar gets muffled. All of Simon's commentary, just like on My Own Way, the extra stuff gets cut out and this song always reminds me of what kind of driver I was in high school, driving 85mph in a 35 mph zone just trying to race someone. And hey, I graduated in 1996, so this song has stood the test of time. When I saw them playing this song in San Francisco's Fillmore back in July of 09', it was the best thing about the concert cuz I had never seen them play this ever. |

As a person who is 29 years old, watched 4 of my friends die from alcohol and drug abuse, this song, even though is about her personal experience really bothers me because as Denis Leary said, " I think 12 step programs are great because some of those people would be dead without them." As a singer, she sounds jazzy and soulful. I too am a singer and can appreciate her heartfelt lyrics. What pisses me off is that the song is being marketed in a way as the brand new fad to teenagers and young twenty-somethings who could hit the blunt, toast a 40 and be turned off to something that if they have a problem, might save their lives. 8 years clean and I'm a miracle. And to my knowledge, by the time Amy fades, they may bring back Behind the Music again and she will downplay that tune. Clapton's done it and every other rocker has. But like CC Deville, yes, that's right Poison's old guitar player said, " It is more acceptable to be a junky in this country than to be overweight." So, all you fans, enjoy the tune but one person's experience, fame, and marketing shouldn't dissuade anyone who thinks they need help. |
