| The Get Up Kids – Last Place You Look Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the first couple lines suggest that the person who it addressed to has had their own life experiences and realized that everything that is not yours seems better than what you have. He goes on to say that he's hoping that that person is at the end of his "trip" which could be taken as his wife at the end of the road. He just wants to express that he has to discover other things now, but he loves the person and will be back to see if it works out, if it's meant to be. | |
| Matt Pond PA – Last Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
it's like the narrator is remembering a relationship he once had with a girl and he is saying he doesn't regret letting it go. The music contrasts it though, because it is so somber. "our eyes closed once more will not roll this killing is good killing despite the red and years and years of sinning" we're not watching it really fall apart, and we won't let ourselves get tangled up in this again. The fact that this relationship is ending is good, even after everything we did together, sinning, might be alluding to things of a sexual nature. |

| Regina Spektor – I Cut Off My Hair Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Okay here is my take on this song. The first line of the song ultimately sets the tone. "I cut off my hair and went to sleep" Often when I got frustrated about my life, my love life inparticular, I found myself prone to trying to change something about myself and then I immediately regretted the decision and subsequently went to sleep to escape whatever was frustrating me. She begins to sing about a dream she is having about her estranged love, and it seems by the use of partying and a "VIP" sticker on his jacket, he changed, something happened to them where he just fell away from her, maybe thought he was better; something changed in their relationship. She wonders if he misses her all the time, she feels like he still loves her, someway. They present a contrast in clothing when she is trying to be with him, which might be a metaphor for how he is wasting his life partying while she is expressing herself creatively (rags vs pointe shoes), he just conintually pushes her away (hitting the snooze). "I tried to lay next to you but you hit the snooze The definition of A crazy person is Someone that does the same things Over and over again while expecting new results I cut off my tongue--you started to kiss me Blood trickled down--don't you ever miss me?" She feels like she keeps having the same dream about him, and she can't stand herself because of it. She calls herself crazy because she does the same thing everytime she has the dream, and she still misses him afterwards. At least that is what it means to me. |
