| Dido – The Day Before the Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |

First of all, i beleived the lyric in the chorus/hook line is you who love to love and believed we can never give IT UP? I think this song is about death. particularly suicide. the speaker is talking as if it is after the funeral of a lost loved one. This first verse is about how even though this person dying seems like the end of the world to the speaker, the world will not stop. It will go on. nothing more will be made of the person. The second verse i beleive is about the suicide of the person. The third verse is about how the speaker presumably met the person the day before they took their own life and did not ask what was wrong, did not pick up that the person was particularly down because she was rushing to work. The speaker now regrets this. The day before the day whom ever killed their self. morbid interpretation but i think this is pretty clear from the lyrics... any1 else? |

| it isnt just just about the girl. or his mother. the apoligy is to his wife, his children, the girl and his parents, and even his fans to all the people he loves. | |
| The Cranberries – Twenty-One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| well i beleive calysto is right. I was unsure what this song was about however in Ode to my Family (Track 1 on the No Need To Argue album) i picked up on the "my father, he liked me ergh he liked me- doea anyone care?" This made me think she was abused by her father as a child. Therefore this song, 21, to me is about her escape from his abuse because she is 21- an adult- she doesnt think it will happen anymore- one because she is old enough to leave and fight for herself and also becuase he isnt interested now shes an adult. That what i got and it makes more sense than it being about the fun of being 21 since the song has a haunting and melodramatic rhythm rather than a happy one. | |

| The Cranberries – Ode To My Family Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song means alot to me because: I am the only person on my family who is going to university, who has an education and wants to better myself from the life that i would typically be born into i.e-poor. I was raised without an emphasis on education, career or bettering myself but on taking chances/living life as fun i.e- alcohol, live for today. So because of this, i feel different from my family and am becoming a different person to them- they now thinki am a snob. I wil live my life away from them and will inevitably lose contact or closness from them. I love my family but feel that i will lose them when i am 'out there'. and that no one will care. i think the part of the song were the chorus is 'unhappiness. where's when i was young...' - i relate to this coz my unbringing was fun and i didnt care' But i learned that 'unhappiness was when i was young and we didnt give a damn' because it leads to a bad place hence the drugs and alcohol abuse in my family. Anyhoo, fukin amazing song xxx |

| Oasis – Half The World Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yea i truly love this song. When our family get togther, at new years and such like, my uncle and cousin will get the guitars out and they play and we all sing... its isnt at Partridge Family as it sounds but it really means alot. and of course it is the great theme tune of the excellent and sadly missed 'Royle Family'. The lyrics to me are about getting away and leaving this horrible town i live in and acheiving my goals... which are half the world away... in america actually. I can feel the warning signs because i seem to be fitting in more and more here and there are alarms going off in my head telling me not to let myself fit in or i'l stay here and i dont wanna! And i wouldnt mind to much leaving this planet as we live in a horrible world, a beleif affirmed by Comic Releif on Friday (just thought i would take that dig there) but i do think it was wirtten by Noel after an argument with Liam and so that is the real meaning but it means different things to everyone and that is howit was intended. I love it and it is one of my favourite oasis songs because of the melody, the lyrics and because it is so easy to listen to unlike alot of other oasis songs. xxx | |
| Mika – Happy Ending Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love this song. all of the songs on the album are amazing. oh and i am sick of poeple sayin he is copying of Freddie like poeple keep sayin on the radio. He sings in a similar way but his music does not sound like Queen really. and i dont think he is copying, maybe just inspired by Freddie. it is very different and any real Queen and or Freddie or MIKA fan will know this. I also love the hidden track, and too cannot find the lyrcis, fortunately i wrote them down lyself as i always do with songs i love..so i can sing along lolol!!! it is very beautiful..... oh on track 5 and 6... i just wish i could make sense of what the woman is sayin... :S she talks like my grandmother and i get the jist of her husband leaving her but the 'i have only one eyes' bit; i cant understand her LOL! | |
| Take That – Wooden Boat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I got the album yesterday and this song immediately stuck out. I L-O-V-E it!! Jason has such a beautiful voice and should lead more often instead of Gary always doing it! lol! The lyrics are so beautiful and i agree with ireneXY about the 'green to blue to gold to black' part. When i was listening to it i was thinking that the first verse, while having an clear meaning (about being a child on a boat fishing-duh) buti it has an underlying meaning i think. The wooden boat is life and he is waiting for something to come along. The ripple in that water i.e the fish, is Christine the women he talks of. He was sitting and waiting for his love to come along and she did and the other verses show their time together as young lover, then in marriage and then in death. And when she dies she wants to be young and living and back to the waiting because it is all over.... he has gone through green, blue, gold and black and would give anything to be back in the 'wooden boat'. I think the chorus is again showing this....waiting for something in life but we dont even know what it is and so we should just LIVE LIFE hence getting on the dance floor and letting ourselves go. I think it is a very philisophical song. or at least it is to me. it is great great great x x x |

| Queen – The Show Must Go On Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Charlene – I've Never Been To Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this is such a powerful song and it is about regret. To me, it about a women telling another 'lady' about what she has done in her life and telling her that she is not missing much. The singer has seen and done everything yet she is still bitter - but she had to do all that stuff to discover that paradise was realy the ordinary life, being at home with the kids and husband etc... I think it alsop has a message of have fun while you are young. This song reminds of that film with the drag queen simply because it is in it lol. but the lyrics of it make me think of my miother because she could quite easily have been the person whom this song was sung to- she was the 'discontented moither and regimented wife' and she left my father and us 6 children to go have a life that she had missed out on while she was young.. she has yet to realise that she had the happiness and 'paradise' at home and will not find it where she is looking. | |
| Kendall Payne – Scratch Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I heard this song on Grey's too. And i love it so much. I can relate to it soo well. I think it about a young girl growing up and think about her life... thinking she was special..then proving herself wrong' and now she wishes she was small... the chorus i think is on a more grown up level and she is in love now and, maybe her 'stubborn will' caused the relationship to end... and she is thinking and regrettin times gone by... and now she is lost.... in india apparently lol | |
| Art Garfunkel – Bright Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about the sunset...and then sunrise.. but also about death. About life. I think, like the film, it has many undertones and underlying meanings. Put i defintely think the bright eyes are the sun rise. | |
