Mute Math – You Are Mine Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with dkspex23.... just because they're a christian band doesn't meen they talk about nothing but god. It just implies that there songs are often about christian topics.

What if this song is just talkign about obsessions in general?

After all, it says... "Everyone has their obsession, Consuming thoughts, consuming time, They hold high their prized posession, That defines the meaning of their lives"

So it seems to me it's just talking about obsession. How it exists with almost everyone in some shape or form. and then in the chorus he says "you are mine" Signifying that he knows what his obsession is.

Perhaps it's a song urging listeners to come to a realization of their own obsessions, so that in time they can get over them.

Linkin Park – With You Lyrics 16 years ago
So if you don't like the song why do you post on it? The fact of the matter is, not all music has to be completely original to be good music. If that was the case then music at this point would be completely dead because almost everything has already been thought of in the music idustry. It's not about coming up with a completely original subject matter. It's about making the subject matter your own, whether it be with the lyrics or the actual music. Whether it's original or not is barely even a question anymore in music.

Mae – This Is The Countdown Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song has nothing to do with a relationship, but that's because I see this whole album as a story, and this song comes way before the relationship of the story comes about. (The Ocean)

If you look at this song in context. I think it's about a person who's reaching for a goal of some kind, but he gets into this cycle where he's doing nothing but waiting for a sign that's never going to come...some sort of sign of success. After Suspension, this song is sort of a "All good things must come to an end" type of song.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Dawn of the Dead Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm pretty sure this song is amazing, uniquely because of its steel drums in the background.

Copeland – Eat, Sleep, Repeat Lyrics 17 years ago
I LOVE this song...

I think it's about a man, who has been told how to do stuff for most of his life, and he didn't believe in love, but then when he found himself falling in love he couldn't take it.

"Is it any surprise that you feel so over-run?
When all this time you had no one to tell you how to love"

Mae – Painless Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that in context of this song, Pain should actually be thought of as a good thing.

I think this mostly because of the chorus, which in reality goes more like this -
"Hey, wait, knock me down and I'll get up again.
Oh, Pain, a remedy that can erase your sting
I'll keep holding and I'll keep trying to feel this fight it is slowly dying now, but I feel painless"

I think the fight refers to someone "fighting" for their dreams. And pain is a remedy that erases the sting of this fight, because pain means progression. But this fight is slowly dying and he feels painless. Meaning he feels like he's made no progress at all in what he was originally fighting for

I could still see a lot of other interpretations but that's the one I think of when listening to it

I agree with Thru7being7Cool. I think it's about childhood friends who grew apart, and he's remembering the person and wondering about how she's doing these days. I would agree with any other meaning about son's or little brothers or something but a few things make it seem to me like their childhood friends (especially the last paragraph) -

i was nervous from the start
that our muscles might tear us apart
from the words that carve our lives
to the words that take us by surprise
from the sounds that disappeared
to the changes we'd begin to fear
(i can hear you clearly)
one day i'll fail to breathe
and all you'll have are memories

mostly the line that says "our muscles might tear us apart"...this makes me think of poeple growing up "together" meaning, I don't think it's a father

"I know i say that
i'm just fine
but i hope you wonder
from time to time" also makes me think they're friends because he's hoping that she's still thinking of him.
