this song rox. it's about God giving us this peace on Earth through his love and grace. when we go thru bad stuff, God is where we should go. i luv the line "Cause who You are defines my dreams." that line totally explains it for me. it's about making God our priority and living for Him because when we do, we will find an internal peace. gotta luv this song! |

this song has really grown on me. i absolutely love it now! the message is so great. i love how switchfoot can incorporate famous historical figures in their songs. it's about st. augustine realizing that he needs God and repents in the song. this also kinda reminds me of Meant to Live b/c it's about yearning for more than what's been offered to us. this particular song though points more to God. |

I think this song has everything to do with God. To me, it is confirmed with the line "The God of Redemption could break our routine." We all need to be reborn in God through Jesus Christ. He is the New Way to be Human. We have to realize that to be complete like neuf said, we need God. He will change our way of living, our "routine," and make us new again. He does that through forgiveness of our sins. He created us for His amazing plan. It's about His will not our will. |

i really like this song. i agree with what OnDistantShores said, about letting go of the world and following God through the good and the bad. the world doesn't have what we really hope for. |

for me, this song is about how God comes and steps in our lives. when all hope is lost, we find Him in our most depressing moments. He gives us the hope and love we need in our daily struggles. this song is about finding life in God and is one of the most beautiful yet simple ballads ever written, especially since they were so young. |

i just reread the lyrics earlier and I see more of the God relation. It's saying how we need love, which is only God's love yet we don't love like Him. I can be so oblivious at times! |

wow, this song is so amazing, especially musically. not saying the lyrics are bad, but the music gives me chills. the music really emphasizes the words. i like your interpretation thatwasimplied. i never thought of it like that. it makes sense. also, the repetition really makes you feel the way the song is trying to make you feel. it's pretty cool. i also love the bridge. amazing! |

I totally love this song. To me, it's about people wanting to have the bigger car, the bigger house and wanting to climb the corporate ladder. But this song is saying how we should live and die for things that are worth living for. i love the line"Is it true would you do what I want you to if I show with the right amount of bling? Like a puppet on a monetary string." that's pretty genius right there. we sometimes do anything for money, which is not good. living for useless things is not living at all. we are not free at all with just STUFF. we need More. we want More. |

This song is so catchy and has grown to be one of my favs. I love Jon's sarcasm when he sings "We don't know what we're doing...LET'S DO IT AGAIN!" it shows a true message which is we can't love, we're just amateurs, but we do stupid things and keep doing them. this song is clever and it rocks out loud. personally, i don't think it totally relates to God as much as other songs, i just think that it's saying what we're doing wrong. i used to skip it but now i totally love it and can't stop listening to it. |

this song is so cool. it creates an amazing imagery about life and the useless stuff. the myths incorporated just show the genius of switchfoot and jon's clever writing. my favorite line is " a heart that's made of gold can't really beat at all." it's so clever and to me it means that gold or riches etc., can't make us truly live and happy. it ruins us. we don't really want "stuff." this song is so great and really reminds you of what's important in life. the violins set great tones in each verse and the bridge. once again, AMAZING! |

this song is so pretty. i saw i live performance of it on youtube.com and i instantly fell in love with this song. my favorite line is "I'm dying to breathe in these abundant skies." i think it means that our old selves die and when we are born again, we breathe in God's atmosphere. We are truly dying to stay alive in God. amazing, beautiful, intelligent lyrics. |

| Switchfoot – Head Over Heels (In This Life) Lyrics

this is a rocking beautiful song. i think it's about God because he seems to be calling him home and worth fighting for. especially with the line "i've been burning after more." and "you're the mark i'm aiming for." deep down we realize we want God. the open arms does seem like it's about God to me. to me, it does seem like a devotion to God because Jon keeps singing out, "You're my only one" I can also see how it's about his wife with "in this life"but to me God makes more sense. also, i'm not just using jon's or any of the other band members' faiths to wave the flag of Christianity. this is just what i think of the song. this song is a masterpiece and not cliche` like i've read in some reviews. very poetic and amazing. nothing less |

the first verse to me means how in the world everything your'e exposed to is meaningless and just makes you feel empty. then it goes on to say that we are burning for something more. deep down we are burning for God's love. we want to change and we despise everything we have become. we want to feel full, with no emptiness, we want to be on fire with God. this kinda reminds me of only hope with the line "you are the hope i have for change, you are the only chance i'll take." we tired of this world and what it has to offer, we're burning after more. this song also reminds me of meant to live but in a slower version. i also think of this song when I hear Head over heels. this song is so beautiful. and my church used it for the theme of a series called ignite. awesome. |

| Switchfoot – Playing For Keeps Lyrics

"Our first album (Legend Of Chin) had quite a few songs about girls and relationships. Our second album (New Way To Be Human) didn't really have any songs that fit that description, but we still felt that song about love and the struggles there-in were important for us to write about. This is the one song on this album that deals with the often-used-but-never-exhausted topic of heart-ache."-Tim Foreman
"Eventually I think everyone experiences a time when he meets someone very special or just grows tired of the dating game, and he doesn't want anything to do with someone that he's attracted to unless that someone is reasonably serious about creating a lasting relationship. He would rather have that person tell him "it's time to move on" then to be strung along only to have his heart broken. This is what it's like to be ‘playing for keeps': to be looking beyond the present to and meaningful and lasting friendship."-Tim Foreman |

| Switchfoot – Let That Be Enough Lyrics

"That was a really, really tough time for me. Just recording that album was tough. A lot of things didn't go the way we wanted them to. Just a real growing time, maturing time I guess. Being away from home for 3 months and the feeling of not being able to express what I wanted to in music. The feeling that you have these songs inside of you but couldn't get them out was a really tough thing. So ‘Let That Be Enough' was kind of a song of desperation, a calling out to God to be living and active in my life. I wrote the song after lunch, played it for Charlie (Producer Charlie Peacock) and he said ‘that's it' and we recorded it in like the second take. We added background vocals and keys, and that as it. We re-wrote the song "New Way To Be Human" 43 times and recorded it again, and again, and again, and then this one was finished in like 3 hours."-Jon Foreman |

"The song was written and recorded on the same day. October 21. I was looking out across the waters of my life thinking, ‘Nothing is certain. Anything can happen. But I can't make this on my own. And nothing here can satisfy me.' This is my prayer on the day before my birthday: that Christ's love would be all that I need; that even when things are not the way I would have them, His presence would be enough."- Jon Foreman |

| Switchfoot – The Loser Lyrics

my favorite line is "I'll turn the other cheek to be hit." it comes straight from the Bible. Jesus said to not get revenge and give people whatever they ask of you, because you may be a "loser" now but you will be rewarded in Heaven. if we gain the world but lose our soul, that's our eternity. but if we lose everything we have for God, we will be true winners in the end. |

the line"mysterious ways why God gave his life to put motion inside my soul"explains the song for me. "and everything inside screams for second life..."totally explains it for me. We are yearining for God and thru his Son we truly come alive. We are lost without Him-"have we lost ourselves?" we want more than the world has, we want God deep down but search in all the wrong places and get lost. this is what the song basically means to me although several may disagree as I can see. |
