haha, S&E is probably my favorite album of the 90s. Although this is true, i never listen to this song. It seems pointless and undynamic. but eh, has a kinda nice melody |

Kudos to all of the posted analyses. When it comes to this song, I'm not sure really what to think. I agree that the song is soothing, and thirilling, but it carries a sad undertow. Oh well.
It's so simple! D and G chords! Maybe the simplicity is what carries the emotional impact of the rest of the song |

Great song. My original liking of the song was in the same vein as Picklejuice. It grew on me after many listens |

In response to the comment above...
I like debaser and all, but i doubt that Pavemnt ripped off the speaking style from it. There are many other songs that have speaking style lyrics in context.
either way, great song

gay song. gay band. How come there are like ten people, may I ask? What is it, four guitarists and three drummers? More like a gay party with a great big circle jerk as the main attraction |

I actually sorta disagree with the previous comment, although I agree that it is a great song. The lyrics speaks to me as if Jesus is a human security-like blanket. God and Jesus cover and help the needy, or the "asleep." Although religion has caused alot of wars, it's also helped keep people in orginazation and partially out of chaos. It seems as if the Lips are not making fun of Jesus per-se, but moreso appreciating the way that he acts as a "blanket that covers me".
