i think this song means that it doesnt matter what you do with your life, youre just another story and youre no big deal. I think it relates mostly to the punk scene during that time and the people who were trying to make profit off it. in the punk world, didnt matter if you died or made it big, you were no better than anyone else. The tattoo part deals with the punk idos of that philosophy, youre no better than anyone else, and that guy shows his kids that with the back of his hand. i think the nun part deals with hypocrisy. People get involved in the scene for the wrong reasons and act all "fuck authority" and they end up conforming to what they rebelled against in the first place. the last verse is brilliant, i think it deals with the punk explosion of the late 70's. everybody had a band and the music was simple, but to be revolutionaries like the clash you had to be different, which a lot of these bands were just mimicking what the clash was doing for a few years at that point. Especially with london calling, they sort of moved on from that sound they created and explored more musical styles. thats what i got from it. |

i really this song is about getting old and being in a home or something "Playing cards and smoking cigars 'til the sun came up or was it going down for the night?"- playing cards to the point where it felt like morning, but it was really just just late afternoon, a very old person feeling. "Drop me off, sign me in, clean me up and let me out Man that nurse is a bitch, this sucks, she says my jug ain't allowed" - no drinking allowed when you stay here. "I've had my share of Mt. Pleasant messiahs wearing slippers and robes, trying to bum smokes I'm gonna Thorazine shuffle straight out the door Head to the farm and find me a cure" - im guessing "Mt. Pleasant messiahs wearing slippers and robes" are just crazy delusional people. Thorazine is a drug to help with emotional and mental problems. the farm reference i think just kind of pokes fun at old school medicine and remedies. and last but not least, everytime i hear SUNSHINE HIGHWAY, i think of florida, and when i think of florida, i like of old people this is how i always took this song |

If you want honest answers, i know you do, so say its true we all want honest answers, something true, its nothing new alrite, i can see the meaning in these lines and this song and i totally agree with Christalena (another kickass mxpx song btw) but besides that, this is prolly one of the catchiest lines melodically on all of Let It Happen..IMO |
