Like a Record Player Lyrics

I’m like a record player
I keep goin’ round
With a needle in my arm
Makin’ someone else’s sound

And lately I’ve been dreaming of blue and empty skies
But nothing like that ever crosses red and weary eyes

I’ve been traveling with bottles
Workin’ close with cans
Sitting up for hours with my best friends in a van
And they say that there’s a limit
But I don’t know what they mean
'Cos I don’t think that they'll ever be lookin’ after me
It’s the only game that I know how to play

The time, the time to say good-bye
Has passed us long ago
And I would say I've over-stay
My welcome but you know
I don’t think I’m ever goin’ home.

Now I don’t need a doctor
As anyone can see
That I’ve had all of these shots although I’m still as sick as I can be
I think I need to rest my eyes
So baby, come with me.
Lay down here beside me
Keep me warm while I sleep
There’s trouble on the way
Huh.
You best believe.
There always is a worry, sit and have a drink with me
When we go out, we got is these days that we made
And I don’t want to waste them being wishful or afraid
Without all you, I’d be even lower down
You know what I wanna say, but I can’t get it out

The time, the time to say good-bye
Has paseed us long ago
And I would say I've over-stay
My welcome but you know
I don’t think I’m ever goin’ home.
I don’t think we’re ever goin’ home,
Oh no.

Hey, thanks for the awesome post. Here are a few corrections I am pretty sure of:

The time, the time to say goodbye Passed us long ago. And I would say I've overstayed my welcome, but y'know, I don't think I'm ever going home.

Now I don't need a doctor 'Cause anyone can see...

There's trouble on the way (Grunt) You best believe.

When we go all we got is these days that we made And I don't want to waste them being wistful or afraid

Okay, those are all. This is one of my favorite Larry Arms songs ever. Great upbeat without contradicting the "apathy and exhaustion" that defines the band's writing style. Awesome, hopefully I can post some more.
