| Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse – Jaykub Lyrics | 15 years ago |
fantasizing about being in a successful band while you can barely pay your rent but you push yourself even more until it drains you sometimes and you end up sounding like a "sad man in a song" but you fight on because the music is engraved in your soul. i can relate to this song completely |
| Peter And The Wolf – Southern Moon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| god i love this song. i love everything this man does. | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Little Birds Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Train's gonna leave Got my wallet in my pocket Got a vision in my head I gotta share With somebody I love It's two seagulls circling the waves Oh my God, oh my god You'd love it here I visit but I can't stay. best part of the song lyric and music wise |
| Peter And The Wolf – The Bike of Jonas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| and i'm pretty sure its "Oh she took us so far" | |
| Peter And The Wolf – The Bike of Jonas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| what is the crazy sounding instrument in this song? anybody? | |
| Peter And The Wolf – Scarlet and Grey Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is obviously about regretting something he didn't say to somebody he felt strongly about. the piano is so great in this one. love the echoed hand claps too |
| Peter And The Wolf – Silent Movies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
if the way opiates feel had a theme song this would definitely be one of them |
| Peter And The Wolf – The Highway Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah, it's definitely "I saw kids running out in the field" not "eye sockets" that just makes no sense the piano and the layered vocals make this song epic |
| The Blood Brothers – USA Nails Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Do you remember that night in the back of daddy's car...strumming the chords of your pubic guitar...the way you tasted like a movie star...the way the windsheild reflected the sunrise, the way the light tattooed your thighs...You're the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world... .. your time is up, till next time! We'll send you a bill." LOVE that part |
| Joe Wilson – Furniture Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the storytelling and methaphors and when the song changes pace when he sings 'We can throw the furniture around....' is AWESOME. by far one of the best songs, if not THE best song he has ever written. |
| The Velvet Underground – Stephanie Says Lyrics | 17 years ago |
But she's not afraid to die the people all call her Alaska Between worlds so the people ask her 'Cause it's all in her mind it's all in her mind this stanza reminds me of of the story of that Chris guy who they made the Into the Wild movie about. The Book is much better btw, but any Lou reed ever did was instant classic.. |
| The Velvet Underground – I'm Waiting for the Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love the cool way they play it on the 1969: live in texas album! | |
| Feeling Left Out – If Only to Hear you Say Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I remember when they let this album stream online...I recorded it on my four track and listened to it all and knew all the lyrics by the time I got to see them and get the CD. I love this album. |
| Feeling Left Out – Even The Flux Capacitor Can't Save Us Now Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I prefer this version to the original. best lines lonely makes me blue envy turns me green hate might paint my magazine |
| Low – Shame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is such a beautiful song. the music video is perfect. I can definitely relate to the man trying to give out his balloons. he walks all over but nobody wants them, they just think he's got some weird motive and they either turn him down or run away. |
| Red House Painters – Make Like Paper Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Nimbus you're not the only one, this is one of my favorite songs from "Songs from a Blue Guitar". and more interestingly, this song was the reason Red House Painters and 4AD parted ways in the end. to read more see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_Like_Paper |
| Red House Painters – All Mixed Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
she says to leave it to me and everything will be allright this part makes the hairs on my back stick up the music and the way he sings it and everything is just PERFECT. and I did not even know this was a cover until I looked up the lyrics on here. |
| Hed PE – Suffa Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm sooo disappointed with this song. The breakdown is so cliche. I do like this part: The sun is getting higher Your on your own Im moving back to Zion Im going home And when my job is done I'll find my place in the sun And never look back Inside my Babylon but it doesnt even seem to fit the feeling of this song...harsh..in your face..that's Jamaican shit, stoner shit. I don't think they'll make a better album then "Broke" |
| Lush – Tralala Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is amazing I definitely wouldn't even have noticed it if it did not come up on party shuffle. So dreamy. |
| Cat Power – Great Expectations Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Nick Drake – Time of No Reply Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is what Nick Drake is all about. If I were going to introduce a friend to his music it most likely be with this song. It's like Elliott Smith and his song Independence Day. It's just him in his purest form and that's what this is. I prefer the original version but I like listening to the one on Made to Love Magic, too. I think this song is about how he is detached and can't speak because he is so ill in the mind as bibis817 stated with the depression. Drake is a legend. He inspires people every day. |

| Jana Hunter – K Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and I agree it sounds more like friends than fans | |
| Jana Hunter – K Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is the best song on unending heirs of doom, in my opinion. love the background vocals | |
| Lily Allen – Friend of Mine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this has become my favorite lily allen song. and i agree...it is probably about a girl she knew who turned into a coke head, but we can't know for sure, hmm? |
| The Moldy Peaches – Downloading Porn with Davo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Me and Eric in the bathroom with the weather report" FOR SURE, about snorting lines in the bathroom. people like to connect snow with cocaine. and snow is a form of weather. haha im no good at explanations. |
| The Moldy Peaches – Lucky Number Nine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, for sure, i agree with fuckedupdog don't watch the video...it ruins this song. it makes you wonder how they ever thought that version was better. ewww i have a sneaking suspicion that most of this band's songs were recorded under the influence of stimulants. |
| Elliott Smith – High Times Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is hands down, one of my favorite songs of all time. | |
| Ani DiFranco – Garden of Simple Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i cant stop listening to this song. i just got the revelling/reckoning album and so far this is my fave. lovelovelove ani |
| Tom Petty – Yer So Bad Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"yer so bad, best thing i ever had in a world gone mad, yer so bad" to me, this part of the song could refer to either a person/substance. many songs about the opposite sex not just love songs can be methaphors for the relationship between a drug addict and his drug of choice and vice versa i'm in no way saying tom petty is a drug addict, but it's pretty clear in his songs that you can make certain lyrics out to be referencing drug use (ex. Learning to Fly, clearly obvious). |
| Cloud Cult – Washed Your Car Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this was the song that go me into Cloud Cult. it was the first one I hear anyways. and so i put it on playlists and stuff for weeks until finally listening to this entire CD, Advice from the Happy Hippopotomus and I was suprised that it's not even the best song. | |
| Pavement – Stop Breathing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i LOVE the bridge of this song. right around 2min16sec into it. the how the bass comes in at 3min 16sec adding the coolest little layer before the song comes to an end. crooked rain, crooked rain = perfect 90s indie rock from start to finish |
| Pavement – Brinx Job Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it took me a long to get into Pavement. So far, the only albums I've heard completely are Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee. Two completely different albums. Crooked Rain was easy to love, Wowee Zowee...not so much. After countless listens, I found myself only replaying certain songs. Rattled by the Rush and AT&T were the only songs I played for months. After awhile though I ventured to the other songs and found that this was one of first ones to catch my ear. this song is just so different. from the way malkmus sings the first two lines to the chanting of "We got the money" to me, this song was recorded in a frenzy. which is the way anybody feels when they first have a lot of money. like ooh, what will i buy first? it's one of the only things we as humans have power over. what we get to do with our evil money. this is definitely one of my favorite pavement songs though, quite the contrary to what the last user posted about this song. |
| Elliott Smith – The White Lady Loves You More Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i've read that elliott was off and on medications for bipolar/depression. the line "need a metal man just to pick up your feet" to me, refers to lithium. lithium is a soft alkaline metal that tremendously helps bipolar/depression sufferers. i would know because i am one. |
| Babyshambles – Beg, Steal or Borrow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the truth and sadness and virtue of pete doherty is overpowering. he's my new idol. | |
| Cat Power – Great Expectations Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song has some missing lyrics after the "I am the snow" part. i've heard of cat power and the acclaim from the critics, but never really got into her until i heard this song. it's song original. it's so manic depressive and dark and distant. i love this. and cat power, now, too. |
| Gregory and the Hawk – The People Who Raised Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is awesome | |
| Gregory and the Hawk – Oats We Sow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is amazing, i love how its got such a strong feeling to it. she usually has good songs but this one is a lot bolder, theres more depth to it i guess | |
| Cloud Cult – Chain Reaction Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of the better songs from The Meaning of 8. gotta love the beginning. it's just good to listen to on a late night after a long day. |
| Peter And The Wolf – The Fall Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i hear "the drugs and the rain" this song could possibly be about Hurricane Katrina and how the people basically had to depend on eachother for safety, shelter, food, water, etc. either way, this song is perfect from start to finish. this song introduced me to Red Hunter. |
| Peter And The Wolf – Safe Travels Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i feel like he says "all the region reaching trees go the same way." |
| The Album Leaf – Writings on the Wall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is the song I've listened to most from Into The Blue Again. I love the violins in this. Some songs have lots of layers of different instruments and it either fits great, or it doesn't. (in my opinion anyways) in this song, the instruments flow with eachother and make me calm and relaxed. the only downside to this song is the lyrics. they're simple and not too bad for him not having much experience singing and putting words into his music.... "over clouds and through the sky to find a place that we can hide and close our eyes this time it's all inside through this journey we can see all the trees their changing leaves this safe place where we can hide away" my fav. lines^ you can definitely tell he's recording with the guys from sigur ros. |
| Beirut – Postcards from Italy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song pretty much introduced beirut to the world via pitchfork media and other similar internet sites. i don't think there could've been a better track to do so. i agree with you folks...this song has a feeling of nostalgia but i think most of his songs just have a general effect of carrying such emotion through the instruments and words and how they're sang. he is a genius, and inspires me so much as a musician. |
| The Moldy Peaches – Lucky Charms Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| tuffghost, haha, i second that. | |
