| Porcupine Tree – Trains Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Steven Wilson had had a model railway when he was a child. A friend of mine found this out, but I don't know where. Maybe one of you can find sources... It would give a whole new approach to interpreting the song, that is to say. | |
| Porcupine Tree – Voyage 34 (Phase III) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Porcupine Tree – Don't Hate Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This one is (not only) lyrically one of my absolute favorites... especially the chorus (The verses might represent some personal experiences, dunno). From my point of view, its about when you love a girl but she doesn't love you. When you are in such a situation, listen to that song and, trust me, you will not only understand every single line of the chorus, you can really FEEL it... simply awesome! |

| Dream Theater – The Mirror Lyrics | 19 years ago |

In a line closely after the Meryl Streep Sample, it says "This has come to an end", but actually it is "This has TO come to an end" Freakin' genius song, I especially like how the keyboard fits in so good. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Pain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
well i just bashed "Jen"... so now commenting Jimmy's best song to cheer up a bit.... no its really good, probably the best song from the excellent album Futures... you can hear the bands musical skill... solid song... good lyrics... actually i love it! |
|
| Jimmy Eat World – Jen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
wtf? The futures album is a masterpiece, but this song? no really, it's... crap? maybe its written for a friend called jen to encourage her? don't know.. Actually it's kind of a good pop-song... you know to play on the radio and so on... not my style though... For me, it's kind of 'too american'... can't really explain it... "Ya-Ya-You know it Jen" explains it pretty well ^^ oh and the crappy melody throughout the whole song... thats the worst! No really, this sucks! "Don't be scared, no don't be shy" omfg! "Trust your heart, trust me" shut THE FUCK up! |

| Wir Sind Helden – Ist das so? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
the lyrics are freakin awesome! Wir sind Helden has the most intelligent lyrics in german language i have seen! "Ihr könnt so lange, wie ihr wollt, mit euren Regeln wedeln, solange Regeln in der Regel nur den Redner edeln." omfg this is GENIOUS!! translation?? It's very hard to translate a wordplay, and almost the whole song is one HUGE wordplay! "Ist jeder, der sich nie beschwert, am Ende wirklich unbeschwert?" nothing more to say... |

| Porcupine Tree – The Sound Of Muzak Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Its kinda funny, that you can find sounds 'against' the music industry (thats what i think it's about) on many Porcupine Tree albums.... 'Four Chords that made a million', 'Piano Lessons',... you know what I mean? |

| Porcupine Tree – Glass Arm Shattering Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
omg i have no idea what this song's about! but: it is freaking awesome! Its one of PTs songs where you can see Richard Barbieri's true skills! His keyboard playing and his synthesizer sounds, dude, he's a genius! And Steven Wilson singing... so beautiful! Especially those multiple layers... sounds so cool! Oh, and not to forget Gavin Harrison, WHO IS A REAL DRUMMER GOD (just listen to 'Futile')!! His drum playing fits perfectly, as always! Well, it's just Colin Edwin who's left. He is also nuts, though its not so obvious in this song... I just have to say it here: Porcupine Tree definitely rules! |

| Ah yeah, and Porcupine Tree IS better than Pink Floyd =P | |
| Porcupine Tree – Blackest Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |

There's so much correct stuff mentioned here, so I just want to discuss the points I do not agree with you. Paranoid schizophrenea? I don't think so. Rather he tries to live a normal live, but he is aware ("I got wiring loose inside my head") of his dark side, which he cannot control ("taking over me") This is actually confirmed in the second and third verses, too: "walk in the woods and I will TRY": he does not WANT to rape people... "Should be so beatiful if we can": I believe "we can" actually means "I can", like 'if I can (could) resist'. The books he never read COULD mean the same (I'm not sure). He has books, so other people think he's very sophisticated. The reality is that he does not read them at all, a metaphore for his, I'd call it 'second life' (where he's a rapist). The only thing I dont get is "Swim with me into your blackest eyes". It might be the most important line, though, as it refers to the title. Perhaps It means that he looses himself when he sees a beatiful girl?? Oh yeah, and the "Place were all my dreams are dead", thats also his darker self, when he's obeying his animalic instinct, so his 'dreams' (dreams as a difference between animals and human beings here) are gone, he is not acting like a human anymore... I think that all makes a lot of sense, but, It's only my opinion... critical comments allowed... |

| Porcupine Tree – .3 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
High alcohol leve? It'd be called 0.3‰ then... I don't think so. .3 could also be read as 0.3, that's for sure. World War III? I'm quite unsure about the second line. I always thought it's a reference to a racial conflict. But I found a german translation which said "Lay them waste" means to lay the weapons down, consequently to stop the war. Note that my native language isn't English, so I'd appreciate if you could help me with that. Anyway, scientists prognose that a World War III would be about resources like water, that racial stuff doesn't fit in here. I don't know. However, the song is really great. The bass passages strongly remind me of "The Second Renaissance" movies from "Animatrix", if anyone seen them, especially part 2. There, the war between robots and humans is shown (If you have seen Matrix, you will probably have heard of it there). Coming to think about it, racial conflict in this context DOES make sense, a war between the human race and the robots. And "Black the sky"... wow, this also matches the Matrix story (The humans darken the sky to defeat the robots running with solar energy, also mentioned in Matrix) Well, It's just a guess, but it COULD have something to do with Matrix... But .3? I dunno... |

| Porcupine Tree – A Smart Kid Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I just can't guess the meaning of the songs title... hmm... dunno ... perhaps the last survivor is the 'Smart Kid'...? I really can't figure it out at all... |

| Porcupine Tree – How Is Your Life Today? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think its all true what you said, and it's not clear to me wether the taxi was waiting for him (who kissed him on the cheek then?) or his wife (did he just let her go?). Maybe latter makes more sense. At first I also thought he killed his wife (or perhaps his husband, if 'he' is a woman, but i don't think that makes a difference here). But the line "How is your LIFE today" contradicts this. I don't think he murdered her. |

| Porcupine Tree – Up The Downstair Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This Song is very interesting, because the musical component merges with the lyrical... in this song, theres a continuous background melody... the song has a 'flow'. I think this respresents the movement 'Up The Downstair', which is endlessly screwing up into heaven. At least thats my impression... |
|
| Porcupine Tree – Hatesong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I first read the song's title, I thought: "Oh what crap. Lovesong -- Hatesong, very funny. Any other pop music band could have written this..." But then I listened to it... now im a believer ^^ |
|
| Porcupine Tree – Four Chords That Made A Million Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I dont know if they mean a particular song or group. Nirvana is mentioned here, and Blink182. When I first heard the song, I also tried to guess what song they could mean. I think it is about music industry in general, perhaps about "Nu Metal" groups, Steven Wilson seems to dislike them (or at least he uses this term for commercial-oriented bands who play all the same stuff), if you listened to his interviews on the PT website. I dont know, I think the meaning of the song is quite obvious here... unlike other PT tracks. This might be because it is much more a political statement than lyrical art... you know? |

| Wir Sind Helden – Aurélie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
